Last month my sister got married, and with help from a very good friend of mine- I made her wedding cake! As far as the decorating goes, I made most of the roses and my friend did the rest. The icing on the cake is fondant-which doesn't taste good, but it looks great doesn't it? The cake was delicious though, and guess what we used-Duncan Hines French Vanilla boxed cake!
If you're getting married you might want to consider making your own wedding cake, you can save a lot of money that way. Check out your local crafts store, or better yet a specialty baking shop- the people in these places are very passionate about what they do and they love to share tips and know how.

This is the grooms cake, that i did make and decorate all by myself. It was late, 11pm the night before the wedding and i was in a hurry-you can see that the edges aren't iced. Still I was very proud of this one, it's the first cake I've ever decorated and I thought I did a pretty good job.
