Weather Words
A group of us at my French Class were discussing the number of words, especially adjectives that English has compared to French. In French the weather is either cold or hot, either raining or not. In English we have cold, freezing, chilly, warm, hot, middling, to name but a few, to describe temperature. It is raining, drizzling, spitting, and many others describe rain.
We thought at first that the difference was because the English talk about about the weather more than the French but our French classmates assured us that the French discuss the weather as much as English people do.
So here is my challenge How many words can you think of which descibe weather?
Here's a few to get you going mizzle, haar, parky, nippy.
