We Won?

Does anyone else remember Pres. Bush arriving in full flight gear and standing on the deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln and announcing the war in Iraq had been won?

Then what is senator John McCain talking about when he says we won't leave Iraq until the war is won? We already won it. The Iraqi people voted and Saddam Hussein is dead...along with his notorious sons. We occupy their capitol, so how can we win a war that has already been won?

McCain further stated he was worried that if we pulled our troops out of Iraq, then there would be genocide. Is he not aware that genocide is taking place many places in the world and we do nothing about it? Take Darfur, Sudan for example. Everyone is aware of the tragedies occurring everyday and yet....which presidential candidate is talking about it? Did you say...none of them? So, if McCain is so worried about genocide, then why isn't he talking about the Sudan?

Maybe Iraq winning the Asian Cup will encourage Iraqis to think about being Iraqi first and quit knocking each other off. I doubt our presence makes much difference because they seem pretty intent on getting rid of the the other guy, mostly because of religious differences.

Maybe what we need to talking about is how to give Iraq back her pride. Maybe the Iraqi soccer team just did that.
