We have learned nothing.

I am exercising my first Amendment right to free speech, used to call attention to corruption within the government. I urge all citizens to exercise their rights in a peaceful manner, and in accordance with the law. But I also urge them to exercise them loudly and often.

*****************************************************

When's the last time you looked at the text of the Declaration of Independence? I mean REALLY looked. Not at the beginning where it declares that we are fed up. I mean farther down, where it details the list of grievances that caused them to take this action. Never?? You should do so. It's an interesting read. You find phrases the following phrases:

Quote:
"He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good."

"He has endeavoured to prevent the population of these States; for that purpose obstructing the Laws for Naturalization of Foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migrations hither, and raising the conditions of new Appropriations of Lands."

"He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people and eat out their substance."

"For taking away our Charters, abolishing our most valuable Laws and altering fundamentally the Forms of our Governments"

"He has excited domestic insurrections amongst us..."

"In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated Petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A Prince, whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of a free people."

Does this sound like any other tyrant you know?

Allow me to post this biography which was recently written. "The President was poorly suited for the demands presented by the age. It was widely know that his intellectual abilities were limited. A long chain of ineffective appointments to his cabinet and an over-dependence on people whom he merely felt unthreatened by, resulted in terrible instability in policy both at home and abroad. A scholar pointed out, tellingly, in one of his most popular works, that a major failure of the Presidency was the specter of the people presented with "an ass for a lion" in the person of the President..."

By the way, where it reads "President", it should read "King". Where it reads "Presidency", it should read "Monarchy". You see, this is from text taken from www.USHistory.org, and the words are not describing President Bush, but another George. They are describing King George III, the ruler of England when the colonies were lost to Britain.

I am not writing this for the benefit of President Bush anymore. He is already damned. I am writing it to the other two branches instead. To the Representatives: as I have shown you above, President Bush is taking us down a path that will not end well. The founding fathers decided to have a republic- that is, I choose people who will speak for me. So far, all I hear is silence. My voice is loudly calling for impeachment, and I am not the only one. You have power because I have given it to you, and I can rescind that power in the next election. I say this to you because I cannot tolerate your silence anymore, and when you do speak, all I hear are empty threats. To the Courts: If my suspicions are correct, you will soon be called upon to decide whether President Bush is free to ignore Congressional subpoenas. When you are making your decision, I ask you to remember one thing. You are the judiciary branch. If you declare that subpoenas can and will be ignored, there is no longer any reason for your entire branch to exist. You are dismissed. President Bush still has the power to pardon, and has shown he will use it whenever he wants. By siding with Congress, this does not infringe upon his right of pardon, and both sides get to claim a victory. Side with the President, and two out of the three branches of government might as well go home. And then, the fear of the founding fathers has been realized.

Finally, I'm going to pretend this is still my government. Naive, I know, but I can't help it. And despite seeing situation after situation mirrored in the Declaration of Independence, I am NOT urging the overthrow of the government. I have options available to me that the colonists did not. Namely, if you will not do your job, I will take that job from you.

Impeach, or it will be at your political peril. The Declaration of Independence provides proof enough of how bad a situation can get under the leadership of a man ill-suited for the job.

You'll be ignored, IG

But, I like the thought and the thought that was put into it! It's frightening to think of what is going on in our own country. I've said it before and hope that someday it changes- but, I just don't love my country anymore. It could be that I was blinded by it's majesty. Or, maybe that I was too young and naive to see that our nation was always corrupt and a liar and a meglomaniac.
What frightens me the most is what would happen if he was impeached. Er, Cheney??? I think we maybe should wait it out til he's not in office anymore. Sure, he would deserve it, but would WE deserve Dick????

Actually, the push is on to

Actually, the push is on to impeach Cheney first. lol You're not the only one horrified by the thought of having him as President.

I know I'll be ignored. But I'm not going to be quiet and make these people think that I approve of their actions. I can get pissed off, I can get militant, I can get angry, and I can get vocal. But they haven't paid any attention to any of that yet. So I'm doing the one thing that terrifies them. I'm voting against anyone who does not vote the way I would, and if that fails, I'm running against them. And woe unto them for crossing me, because I am a heartless bitch with a long memory and a thirst for some political blood. ;)

I'd vote for you!

spookyyank's picture
spookyyank Says:

I really would! I'd vote for you because you think like I think and I want that sort in all office's! I'll even vote for you when I'm a citizen of the UK and my vote no longer "counts" here!
I agree, you should keep voicing your outrage. More and more people are doing that and it WILL have an effect. Just like my leaving the country - giving up my citizenship - like so many others have and are doing - that will send a message also.
Hey, it may not be much, but it's all we got!

I had a chance to move to

I had a chance to move to the UK a few years ago. I wish I took it, but the timing wasn't right. Anyway, you'll be on visa for at least the first four. And I'll know whether I'm running before that. Ergo, I'd be proud to have your vote and you could actually legally vote for me without even living here. And I'm not kidding or being sarcastic. It's time somebody did something, and these fools aren't doing it.

Ya, I'm irritated

that I didn't leave for the UK when I had money. But, in a way I'm glad I didn't because I feel I actually wasn't ready! I'll surely vote for you wether I'm here or in another country! Yes, I can vote from anywhere up until becoming a citizen elsewhere - and hey, I think there's even a loophole about that! HA!

Can't believe I'm turning down votes, but please don't. I don't want to move to Cali. I have an earthquake and oversized sunglasses phobia. Now, if we're talking national elections, heck yeah! Write me in, sister! :D
