Vaseline: Good For ALMOST Everything

myspaceoryours's picture

This morning I arrived at work without 2 things. Diet Coke and deodorant.

The first one was easy I had a stash of quarters in my desk, so I could easily go back to our break room and buy one. But the second one was trickier.

Deodorant isn't exactly something you can ask to borrow from someone. I mean, especially if you dont know them that well. I remember I once borrowed deodorant from my own sister and she made me apply it with a paper towel so that I wouldnt actually touch her deodorant...

So I had to get creative here I searched my desk first to see if I could find deodorant there because believe me, I bring strange things to work sometimes. I found breath mints, an old lipstick, Vaseline, Band-aids but no deodorant.

But then, out of the corner of my eye I spotted GOLD. Ok, not really gold but Febreeze!

I grabbed the spray bottle and read the label it said "Eliminates odors and freshens." Yes! I sprayed a bit of Febreeze onto my fingers and then double-checked to make sure no one was around and quickly rubbed it under my armpits. Then I did a sniff test and ahhhhhh nice. I then went and washed my hands and walked back to my desk thinking, Hey, not bad.

So now you know Febreeze can double as deodorant in a pinch.

This made me think of other times that I've used products for purposes other than what theyre intended for and I realized I do this quite a bit.

No lip gloss? Use Vaseline. If you want a little color, simply scrape some blush into the palm of your hand and mix in a dab of Vaseline. If you have no blush with you, use a pink highlighter, then just go over it with Vaseline to soften color and give you shine.

Nails looking dull? Hairspray can make them shiny in an instant. Or massage a bit of Vaseline onto nails and cuticles for a quickie nail treatment.

No time to wash your hair? Sprinkle baby powder onto your roots. Then brush hair or simply dust off the excess while styling your hair into place gives you instant volume!

No anti-frizz serum? A little bit of lotion rubbed between your palms calms unruly hair. Or use the tiniest bit of Vaseline on your ends.

No eyelash curler? My best friend uses a spoon to curl hers. I never mastered this technique, but I guess it CAN be done.

No mascara? Vaseline to the rescue again! Put some on your finger and then go over your eyelashes gently to make them nice and shiny.

No eyeliner? Use a black Sharpie. Just be sure that youre a pro at applying eyeliner, otherwise you may have to live with the results for several days.

No make-up remover?
Use a moist towelette to clean up any make-up messes or Vaseline!

Yes, it's true Vaseline has saved me on more than on occasion. And considering that you can buy a tube of Vaseline for about a buck, theres no excuse for not having one in your purse, at the office, on your nightstand, etc.

Unfortunately it couldn't do much for me today with my deodorant problem...
