It is George Orwell's vision come true - in a sense.

"V for Vendetta" takes viewers to a futuristic Britain overtaken by a totalitarian government bent on control through fear.

This Britain sees its citizens controlled in every way by the agenda of political correctness and intolerance.

A new Chancellor, masquerading as a man of faith and parading on a platform of conservatism, seizes control after a terrorists kill thousands with a biological attack.

The resulting chaos and fear allow the government to lurch toward this totalitarian control.

A few years later, Britains are living lives of controlled fear, government-directed thought and tranquility.

Ah, but there are those among the masses who wish to see a different government. A government that doesn't rule by the fear and control of the people governed.

Enter the mysterious "V." Dressed completely in black, a wig and a mask, V could be a symbol of the faceless masses who bear secret anger and distrust of their government, but V is actually a man of flesh and blood. A man who holds deep hatred for a government that used him and others to play God with.

V truly is for vendetta and vengeance to this faceless Robin Hood as he picks off government leaders - one at a time.

This taught drama, interspersed with the occasional spot of humorous dialog does what a movie should do: Provoke thought.

Is a government ever right to rule it's people with an iron fist and threat of torture and death to instill obedience?

Starring Hugo Weaving as the mysterious V, and Natalie Portman as his (at first) unwilling accomplice, "V for Vendetta" is an epic political statement worth watching.

The viewer need not agree with the political agenda subtly espoused in the movie to enjoy this film. "V for Vendetta" encourages viewers to think and discover their own views and what has shaped their views.
