As I was asked to clarify some of the aspects of what I wrote in my post Spiritual Perception I thought it might be a good idea to also give the same clarification here. Unless we view things from the same viewpoint understanding is rendered impossible.
First of all, we are not these bodies; there is no possible way we could be. For one thing the cells of the body are rapidly changed out, at my age, 58 I have exchanged all the cells of my body more times than I can count. Within the cells are Microcondria, with completely independent DNA and without these I could not even move.
I have not looked at myself as a body for a great many years which may explain why I write from a different viewpoint. The body is not much more than our servants through which we can experience the physical universe.
The reason why it is difficult to perceive the difference between where we perceive from, apart from the physical universe, is because the physical universe is solid, we can touch it, smell it, bump into it and many parts of it we taste every day.
The body perceives through the eyes. You can see your eyes with the use of a mirror and you can see other people’s eyes but never your own without something in which they are reflected.
There is nothing in the physical universe which reflects the spiritual entity which we are hence we do not see it. Our eyes perceive only the physical; hence we do not perceive others on a spiritual level.
Have you ever felt that others looked at you without seeing them? There are those who perceive others without any implement of the physical universe, yet most are not aware of what this sensory organ is.
The animal bodies we care for are either of a spiritual nature or we imbue them with spiritual qualities. It seems all "life" is imbued with spiritual qualities much as the old Indians and others stated...
I do consider my position rational, just look for a moment at what goes through our minds: We can envision a future which is not here; we remember a past which is not here. We can even create realities which do not exist in the physical universe. If we were of the physical universe we would be restricted by all aspects of the physical universe in the same fashion our bodies are. We do not have to grow younger to recall the past, we do not have to grow older to envision a future; corollary we are not aspects of the physical universe.
That which we are is not elements of the physical, that which we are is independent and it all exists "now", not now as milliseconds, now as eternity!
