Drug free work place sounds like a good idea. No one wants to work with someone high on drugs? However the real reason is more complicated. Most workplaces are becoming drug free because they can use drug use as a reason not to play out medical benefits. For example if you fell off a ladder and broke your leg the first thing they would have you do is take a drug test to see if drugs are in your system. If they are your medical coverage is void. If employers want to bring down disability clams they need to start providing safer working environments. It’s time for employers to stop violating workers rights to privacy outside of work.
