Trials and Tribulations of toilet-training my cats - Part 6

cat litter | cats | litter | toilet training cats

Well things seem to have improved somewhat.

I managed to catch Joey at it. Boy can he pee! Seriously, I was standing there for one whole minute while he emptied his bladder! I mean, I know he's a big cat, very big, but jeez la weez!

His positioning was good, all four feet planted on the toilet seat. I haven't seen Phoebe use the tray at all today. I think she's on strike. That's fine, but she's obviously cutting off her tail to spite her ass! LOL

She can't hold it forever and her alternative jobby spot is filled with water now so she'll just have to use the tray.

Overall I think we're making good progress.

I'll keep you posted.

Any questions on technique or whatever just ask.

UPDATE

Ok I thought there was water in the bath. Phoebe just let me know that there wasn't, leaving a little pool of yellow in her wake. Grrr.

My man had a shower and didn't put a little water in the bath afterwards, so little miss bizum took advantage.

But Joey's in there right now scratching at thin air, preparing to do his business. Good good.

Almost makes up for Phoebe's defiance.

Sigh.

All this ...

... just makes me grateful for the cat in our domain (inherited from the previous owner of this house, who could not take the cat to her assisted living quarters) who sticks with the litter box. After my experience with the aged and disabled among felines, which had a hard enough time with the box, never mind the loo, I am prepared to be grateful for a little grit underfoot.

Hehe..

I know what you mean. I guess in a way I'm keen on testing the boundaries of feline learning capabilities. I know they are capable of learning this and I'm prepared to go thru, well, sh*t to get there! Plus, if I don't do something about it, my feet will start melding permanently around little chunks of litter. ugh

Bare feet must be a Gibraltar luxury

Here in Maine, the tootsies would freeze. In July ...
