Today I feel Meh

language | rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills | shoe shopping in Paris

I had a friend who used the word 'meh' a lot, and i seriously thought it was just her. She would use it to describe a sort of blah, not good not bad, nothing really happening kind of day. It would go like this:

How are things today?

Meh. (read: nothing exciting, but nothing horrible)

Or like this:

How was dinner with the in-laws?

Meh. (read: not as bad as it could have been, but not exactly fun, either)

Or maybe like this:

You feeling any better?

Meh. (read: no, not really, but I'm tired of complaining.)

Or even this:

Would you rather fly to Paris for shoe shopping, or have cosmetic surgery in Beverly Hills
(read: six of one, half dozen of the other)

So, you see, this word has many, many uses. These are just a few examples. I adopted it, and started using it in various contexts myself.

Then a read someones blog that claimed that it was a non-word. I have to say, I got a little bit defensive. Not only is it a real word, it is a glorious word with so many uses! It's been a long time since such a rich, descriptive word has been introduced into our language.

What do you all think?
