Last night I dreamed that I beat one of my ex-boyfriend's dad to death. And my best friend Gizmo was there, and she was crying because I was going to be put in jail.

I don't have any animosity towards the man in my waking life (even though he was sort of a jerk), so I don't know why I would dream such a thing. I just kept pounding his face with my fists. My fingers were torn and red with his blood and mine. He did not fight back. I saw him lose consciousness. Gizmo told me "he is dead now." And the ambulance came to take him away. I did not regret what I had done. Then I woke up.

I think I had the dream because last night on the Soprano's, the tall man who hung himself reminded me of my ex-bf's dad, and I watched the show a few hours before I went to sleep.

I take my dreams pretty seriously, so this one really bothered me.

Bad Dreams

Ivy Alexander Says:

What we do the last 3 hours of our day does have an impact on our dream state. I had bad dreams last night as well, and they had alot to do with the movie I watched with my husband right before going to bed.

But to have such a violent dream you have some anger built on the inside that you are not expressing. You are not speaking up in situations that you should be. Causing more tention that you may or may not want ot admit.

You do not have to dislike your friends father to kill him in a dream. In dream state it wasn't the dad you were killing, it was something he represents to you. Maybe a father figure, authority, his occupation...so on...

Some people believe we are ourselves in our dreams. You were killing yourself. Or you were killing the traits of yourself that are the same as the fathers.

Or it was the show you watched last night = )

Thanks Ivy, that was a pretty good analysis. You are right when you said I am holding anger inside.

Dreams

It might be some conflict that you are trying to resolve. I agree with what Ivy says about your ex's father representing something to you.
Or it could just be the excitement of seeing The Sopranos back. :)

I agree too

I definitely do not express anger when appropriate. As a psych major, I know this is not good.

Ivy Alexander Says:

You are very welcome...anytime you have a dream that bothers you I would be happy to help. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the dream content...
