It is driving me crazy! Barbara Walters does it. Katie Couric does it. Even Dr. Phil does it. In fact almost every talk show host, news commentator, and radio host adds an "S" to mail when referring to e-mail.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but mail IS plural. To say "send us your e-mails" is like saying I hope the postman brings my mails up to the door.
Sounds ridiculous doesn't it? So why do they refer to e-mail as e-mails. More than one e-mail is e-mail messages. It states messages right there on top of the inbox. It doesn't say e-mails.......so if you are talking about e-mail...you are talking about E-MAIL MESSAGES!!!!!!!!!!.....so, please....if you are working in communications....please get it right.....spare our grammatical ear.....teach the children to use the correct form of mail.....tell them....dear barbara.....Katie.....Phil...et all........send us your e-mail messages!!!!!!!!!!
