I often wonder what people's writing lives are like. Sometimes it is easy to see from the posts they write, but with others it is not so clear. My own writing life has ups and downs, sometimes I am happy and working efficiently and effectively and at other times I can't seem to write much at all. This applies to all areas of my writing life including blogging and freelancing.

There are times when I log into one of my blogs and my mind fogs and I can't write - the same with my freelance writing, some days I have to take it a couple of articles at a time. It also affects any writing I might do with regard to courses I might teach - as for creative writing well let's not go there.

This might seem like a very black look at writing but I am wondering how many of us travel over hills and valleys in our writing - or am I the only writer who sometimes feels like a yo yo on a string.

What's funny, suejeff,...

Catfish Says:

is that I've never had writer's block for longer than 15 minutes, whether it was words or lyrics (back in the day). What I've had to do a couple of times in the past (maybe 10 years ago) was just start writing (typing) something, even if it was only the preamble to the Constitution or the beginning of the Gettysburg Address, or some nonsense, because once I start the process, then I'll usually come up with something to write about, and then it's on.

Guess I'm lucky that way. However, let me add that just because I've never had writer's block doesn't mean that everything I've written I've liked. Sometimes, it's just the idea that I got something written that's enough for the moment.

yo-yo me

Ok, really bad joke. But, I'm very much like that. I'm planning to pursue freelance gigs again and actually make the effort this time. I envy writers who can write book after book or script after script. My attention span only seems to get worse as time goes by. But, when I'm in a good writing period, it seems like I can't be stopped! Argh, yo-yo big-time!

Hello, our Suejeff! Long time no see!!!!

Inquest of a Woman Says:

I am an inconsistent writer bordering on lazy :)! I write when I feel like it, which is a bad habit, and I have various projects left undone. Sometimes, I forget about them. Oh, some I finish, but others become abandoned, left for another day, which may or may not come :D!

I do get like that sometimes but I have to do the writing that pays the bills, I wish I had more incentive to write on my own stuff.
