The Sudanese government denies allegations of abuse

According to one source president Omar al-Bashir was recently quoted as saying most of Sudan’s western region is “secure and enjoying real peace” and “People are living normal lives”,

This statement comes amid reports from the U.N. World Food program that nine of there convoys carrying food to the region have been attacked in the past two weeks alone severally impeding its ability to feed more than 2 million people and leaving an estimated 170000 out of reach. At the same time the AU says it has received what it considers to be credible threats against its peace keeping mission in the Darfur region from a rebel group. The AU says it will hold accountable those responsible for any actions taken against them.
. When asked about reports from civilians fleeing Darfur that they had seen villagers raped or killed by members of the Sudan Liberation Movement leader Minni Minnawi said "The statement was misunderstood and misreported,".
