The Rats are Jumping Overboard

Submitted by ms zola on August 21, 2007 - 6:58am.

With the resignation of Tony snow and Carl Rove it looks as if the rats are abandoning the sinking ship and jumping overboard. These scoundrels have been a part of getting the US involved in Iraq, allowing the big oil companies to triple the price of gasoline and inflated just about everything so that it looked as if the economy is booming.

Booming for whom? Certainly not the 179,599 foreclosure filers who were reported to have grabbed the homes of people so deep in debt that during July foreclosures rose; from 92,845 from last year to the 179,599 this year.

Certainly not the people who can hardly afford to cool and heat their homes because the price of fuel has sky-rocketed.

Certainly not the people who are forced to hold down two and three jobs to pay for the gas to get to those collectively low paying jobs.

No, Rove and Snow represent the elite. They represent those who benefited the most from the Bush Administration policies. and even though Snow claims he is resigning because of money, I seriously doubt he can even relate to the millions of Americans who work for $10.00 an hour or less, those Americans who make less than minimum wage and depend upon tips to make enough to survive on, or the people who search the Internet in hopes of finding a legitimate business that will augment their incomes so that they can have more family time at home.

No, it is the wealthy, the rich, those who will hardly separate themselves from a dime more than they have to, those who leave a dollar tip, who seem to promise a lot but deliver little, those who pay their employees a tiny fraction of the profits.....those are the people they courted for their political contributions because politics can make them richer, more greedy and less willing to share the wealth.

American seems to be up for sale to the highest bidder. To the banker, the oil tycoon, foreign investors, insurance companies, drug manufactures and in fact drug lords, followed by lawyers, then doctors and the rest just sit and wait and watch as the rats leap from the ship and let the chips fall where they may. The saddest part of all, is the Democrats, if elected will inherit this mess and heaven knows what can happen then.

I do admire the way you put your thoughts into words. The 'heart beat' of our American overtaxed base the middle and lower income families and those down at the poverty or below levels can understand exactly where you are coming from.

I personally hope those ship jumping rats have a close encounter with some hungry Great White Sharks in the very murky waters beyond the reach of our nation's Chief Excecutive Officer(no names will I utter).

Maybe just a few of those Ceo's who took large incentives to down size(get concessions from Unions) and then outsource American jobs needed here will jump right along with them...naah a weasel is just a shade smarter than a mere ugly rat I suppose.

LOL! 2catdave.

I appreciate your kind words and show of support. Middle class Americans need someone to speak up because so far the present administration has no heart for the people whose backs bear the burden of the day to day task that has made this country what it is today.

ms.zola for the comment you are very welcome. Although, in some circles it may be considered the 2cat "Kiss of Death". I relate to your post and quite alot of my friends and neighbors do also. The American middle class workers backs have almost been broken and it seems to me those folks in our nation's capital either do not care or can't buy a clue as to how they should fix the problem faced by the blue collar middle income bracket and below workers.

Our state has lost so many manufacturing jobs it boggles the mind. Every time I hear a news cast about how great the economy is doing and all the jobs that have been added I get so darned angry. Sure we've added jobs in the private sector but mostly they are service industry low paying no benifit jobs that quarantee a very low subsitance level of income.

I read somewhere not long back that custodians are in great demand now. It must be wonderful for some folks still to be in demand, but where are the manufacturing jobs with good benifits and retirement...they are fast becoming part of our American history. Until some of our elected officals really give a good rat's behind as to genuinely fixing the problem the future for many looks bleak if not hopeless.

One thing is for sure nothing will change without presurre applied to the right people and with the correct amount of rightful anger and carried with a strong voice that will rally the working class. Personally I would love to see every hourly paid man and woman in this country say enough is enough and have one day of worker solidarity and go on strike until washington wakes up and takes notice. LOL!

The very best to you ms zola. 2catdave

If you haven't spent the $80,000.-$100,000. for a college degree, then you have a dim future. My ex-father-in-law had a good government job and he had only a 6th grade education. It was called...."On the job training" and he held the position (he had promoted many times) for years past his retirement. Now....everyone wants a college graduate and I don't think every job needs a college graduate. Part of the problem is our good paying factory jobs are now over-seas. Along with those jobs have gone the 'call-center" jobs. I have had to take electronic purchases back to the store just because the person I talked to at the call center couldn't grasp my question. I changed electric companies because of the same reason. I like to talk to someone who speaks my language and can understand why i am calling...but some goof ball in 1 company decided to save a few dollars and move the call center, then others followed....I try to most of my business with companies who hire Americans.

Educated or uneducated keep the jobs here. Because if they don't, they'll regret it when our own economy slows down to a snail's pace.

Sassys

The Democrats are only a shade better than the Republicans....when it comes to the welfare of the American people, it's not what we know...it's what we don't know. I no longer trust ANY politician, period. I had high hopes for Hilary Clinton, but she also is part and parcel of this extremely corrupt government. We need someone who is HONEST, and rich enough not to be "bought out" by the oil tycoons and any other tycoon. It is truly disgusting the way they have no conscience at all. How does one grow up without a conscience? It is indeed a case of "America for sale to the highest bidder" My guess is the highest bidder would be none other than Saudi Arabia, 911 anyone? UGH! UGH! UGH! Follow the money and discover when, why and by whom! I just hope my great, great, great grandkids will be around to discover the truth of it all, for it will be well hidden, lest Bush, Cheney, Rove and company would have to face the electric chair for mass murder and treason! Bastards!

None of them seem to be anything but trash. I guess i like Joe Biden the most but I doubt he will get his party's nomination. I, too, had hopes for Hillary but I have seen too many faces on her. Obama actually has the best quotes....I just want to wait and see if he means it....If Sen. John Warner would run I might even vote Republican because he has walked away from the other sheep.

All I know is....I don't Ever want to go through what Bush and Cheney has put this country through. I can't stand Giuliani because he is all mouth and an irritating one at that.
