When HBO sucks, I have this obsessive need to play with my remote. Yes, it's almost a dis-ease. I like to click gadgets.
Often I am enthralled by TBN and I stop clicking the remote.I am so thrilled that most preachers there wish to help "poor third world countries". Now, there is NOTHING wrong with that, except that it disturbs me when they show dying babies in Sudan - and although it is a reality - I feel that these are REAL lives which should not ve viewed on cable as if they were "circus creatures". The charity is great, but should they HAVE to show kids in the most undignified and inhumane state? What becomes more offensive, at least to my sensitivity, is that after showing the deplorable state of the HUMAN tragedy in Sudan, they conscientize the viewers into GIVING money.
Another thing which bothers me about SOME preachers is that they kinda equate "miracles" with a certain amount. Miracles are not products to be marketed and I feel that this does a disservice to the cause of Jesus who asked NOTHING from anyone He healed.
Then we have blokes like Pat Robertson who has a penchant for interfering in international affairs.Add his Muslim-bashing (I am not a Muslim). Recall the Terry-bashing he did during the election year as IF the devil was runing for the Presidency of the USA!
Most preachers in TBN seem to consider ANYTHING conservatively "republican" as good and anything "democrat" and "secular" as BAD. Add the flag waving (not that I mind) -- and it isn't exactly "nice".
I would howver take exception to other preachers on TBN like Kenneth Copeland who makes good sense and who is a LOT more positive that most. Also, Joel Osteen seems credible and is somewhat like a Robert Schuller Jr who makes sense.
Jan Crouch rocks ... and it's because she rocks that I like her. I mean, she is no "sterotype"which is why she makes me merry ! Paul, her husband, sems to have a LOT more diplomatic sense than the rest though, after he kinda told Hal Lindsay to "cool off" and not to rant against Muslims because TBN does reach them after all and the world does not need some holy war.
I was reviewing a friend's site and I think my freind makes a good point about SOME televangelists.
Should we even THINK of paying for miracles?
