The New Millennium Devil's Dictionary - Elephant/Law (Critters #1)

o ceallaigh's picture

ELEPHANT, n. Creature conceived by a committee whose charge was to create a mouse (see INTELLIGENT DESIGN). Peripatetic. Called "pachyderm" because of its thick skin - which is actually one of the most sensitive of all those owned by present-day occupants of the animal kingdom. And elephants, it is said, never forget.

LAW, n. The donkey, Equus asinus.

The law is an ass. - Oliver Twist, Charles Dickens

The creature was designed for all alike, but, in practice, the only ones it carries off are those who lack the money or connections to buy off the driver.

A satirist once caricatured President Andrew Jackson as a donkey. Jackson liked the caricature so much, he adopted the donkey as a symbol for his political party, the Democrats - which it remains to this day.
One needs only to consider current events for about 30 seconds to see how the Republican party acquired the elephant.
