HAPPINESS, n. A state of euphoric detachment from reality, accompanied either by ignorance of the facts or a refusal to acknowledge them.
- Beware, my son, of the pursuit of happiness,
lest it pursue you.
There are many who have sold their souls to Shiva
who insist upon a smile for every occasion
and can offer a wide selection at reasonable prices.
- If your happiness depends on persons,
you are their slave, and they will take you to market.
There are many who will take all you have as rightfully theirs.
- If your happiness depends on things,
they own you, and they will betray you.
There are many who will gladly add you to their mailing lists.
- If your happiness depends on pills or vapours,
you are dead, seek resurrection.
There are many who will point to the hole to be dug,
and hand you the shovel.
- Know yourself. Seek happiness within.
If it is not there, then you are a curmudgeon.
Find your peace in this,
And let others find their peace for themselves.
