the miners in west virginia

i knew jim bennet, one of the men recently killed in the mining accident. he went to my church. any time anyone walked in, he was waiting to greet them with a smile and a handshake. he never gave up until he made you smile too. i swear, i think that smile was permanently plastered to his face. he was 61 years old, and about to retire in april. he left behind kids a mom and a widow. i can only imagine how they are feeling. i know what a loss it has been for all of us. he was in our Christmas play 3 weeks ago. he stole the show. no one had any clue it was his last play. our hearts are filled with sadness, but we must carry on. to all those who lost a loved one in that accident or any other, our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we are suffering too. he'll be missed, until we see him again. but we are comforted by the knowledge that he's happy in heaven, where he always wanted to be. he's finally home.
