The Journey to spiritual peace and Freedom; Part One!

Life is more than we can know with the physical senses, and it is essential that we ‘GET IT /how we perceive is not limited to the physical sense organs. The organs of the physical universe are designed to perceive the physical universe and that is all. In order for us to grow and live spiritually we need to develop or improve our spiritual senses.

Spiritual senses are those which are not readily observed. It is like the Dog or child perceiving a person with a bad conscience. It is that which we can demonstrate while sitting in a restaurant, here a person can focus his/her attention on a stranger. After a bit of concentration in this direction most people will turn and look because they feel the nearness of someone.

The most important aspect in developing one’s spiritual abilities is to cease thinking of oneself as a body. The body is only a temporary communication toy of the physical universe which wears out in much the same fashion as a wallet or a pair of shoes.

The most advanced philosophies came from the Gnostics. We will look at this material as well as any other ancient material which is of importance. We will look at any new philosophies where we find values which work to elevate human conditions and improve our quality of life.

No rule shall be adopted which inhibits scientific knowledge or inhibits spiritual growth.

The one basic agreement which should be easy to see from the beginning is that what we are, is a spiritual being/entity. The most important demonstration of how we can’t possibly be of the physical universe is something which we employ all the time. It is so common to us that we don’t even see it as that unusual, but if you can remember what you had for breakfast this morning you are not of the physical universe. Nothing which exists in time moves in the past or future independent of time; nothing which exists in time can envision a future or reflect on the past.

Freedom from time is a necessary step in becoming free from the physical universe. That which is freed from time has no beginning in time and that which has no beginning in time can’t possibly have an end in time.

One other aspect which must be understood is that the destruction of the body does not mean the spiritual being will be freed. The Gnostic position was that unless one was freed from the physical universe while one was still in a body the freedom would escape; they stated the physical universe was a trap and without spiritual freedom before the demise of the body a person would come back into another body to do the cycle of growth, maturity and death over again. We may also assume that the next such physical experience will be worse than the one which the person attempted to escape through suicide.

The one recurring philosophy which goes through all religious concepts is that there is more to us than these bodies; this is true of Christianity, Buddhism, Islam, American Indians, Judaism, Platonism, Ancient Egyptians and all other peoples which ever existed on this earth. It may be stated that these were all just making wishful dreams but my earlier proof that we are Spiritual beings should absolve those thoughts.

My refutation of current religions, (Judaism, Islam and Christianity) is real, that which we are is not covered by these belief systems so these must be disregarded; we must develop a philosophical/religious system which works!

The greatest creation story ever told may well be the one mentioned in “The Apochryphon of John. This takes us from our inception apart from time/space, before anything of the physical universe existed. This belief is laden with Christian/Gnostic overtones many of which can safely be disregarded. Next entry will examine this form of creation without the religious overtones so we can better understand exactly what these ancients taught.
