The Job of Freelance Writing

The freelance writing world has changed. About 10 years ago a journalist may be paid $1000 - $5000 to write a single article for a magazine. Now, may freelance writers say that is a waste of their time.

Most freelance writers would rather write 100 articles on motorcycle sunglasses at $8.00 each, and make $800 in four days. I don't believe that writing has degenerated. I don't think that quality is lost. I think it is just that writers are narrowing the niche topics they write for.

I write about 80 articles a week on finance. Some of my articles have appeared on some major websites similar, but not fool.com. The quality is there, it is just that I now subscribe to the finance newsletters, keep up with the news, and look for 'cutting edge information.' It is out there - even for something as obscure as sunglasses.
