The Hills Have Eyes

Tonight I saw the remake of the movie "The Hills Have Eyes" with a long-lost friend. We both agreed that it did not do us die-hard horror fans any justice, since it was extremely predictable and the movie used some cheesy cliches where it could have been so much more original. However, my friend pointed out that the copious amounts of gore, blood, and cool make-up effects (those mutants were really freaky!) made up for some of the cheesiness. I think the original movie was better for its time.
So many remakes have the potential to be so much better, especially with all the new technology that was not around when the first films came out. So far one of the only remakes I've seen that I liked was the one with Ryan Reynolds, where he and family moves into the haunted house and he goes crazy. I forget what it's called. If someone knows what I am talking about, let me know! I hated the original.
The new House of Wax sucked. And the new Texas Chainsaw Masacre did not hold a candle to the original.
Anyway, I also want to add that I want you all to forget about the goodness I once thought of that oil of olay moisturizer I wrote about in an earlier post. It is making my skin break out! Do you know how LONG it took me to get clear skin? A LONG ASS TIME. This stuff is going right into the garbage.

Our Beloved Sponsor and Benefactor (if one can call pennies per millenium "benificence" with anything resembling a straight face), Google, tells me that this was the remake of 1979's The Amityville Horror. Can't claim to have seen either the original or the remake. You know why. :)
Thanks
I remembered as soon as I logged off last night too :)

Thanks for the review...
Was planning to see it, will now wait for the DVD. Though i love watching horror movies on the big screen, there is something special about watching it late at night in the comfort of your home.
I agree
The movie experience is great, but you are right...it is great to be at home, without any annoying obnoxious people (except friends), and not having to worry about sitting in gum, or paying obscene prices for snacks.

I am a sucker for horror
I am a sucker for horror movies. While I hold a special place in my heart for good, scary horror movies that would better be called psychological thrillers, I also like the stupid, gore-laden, jump-fests that are so prevelent. For example, The House on Haunted Hill. That movie was so bad, and yet there was something so great about it. I think it must be getting lost in the thought that there might be a really angry ghost waiting to injure me in the bloodiest way possible. The ones that especially do it for me are zombie movies. This is why I will never get a job as a movie critic. lol

I couldn't be a movie critic either, I have such a biased opinion :)
