It's almost here! I went to my first one last year. I had been to other games/festivals in Utah. They were ok, tiny. But this one was awesome! It was huge. Beer tents everywhere! That's always a plus. There are cool, little, souvenir tents sprinkled around, and, surprisingly, good food too. Plus, the games. There's nothing like watching some guy try to pick up and throw a telephone pole end-over-end.
Also, I got drunk enough last year to try Haggis. Actually, it was some knock off of actual Haggis since the FDA won't allow the real stuff into America. It wasn't bad, kind of bland. It tasted pretty much like corn beef hash. They had a few different kinds too. Beef, lamb, and vegetarian. I still haven't figured out how they made Haggis (or their version of it) vegetarian. The only draw back was that they were trying to sell cans of this stuff for 27 bucks a can. Yeah, even I wasn't that drunk.
Let's not forget about the bagpipes. Normally, bagpipes can be very annoying. However, under the right circumstances and when people actually know how to play them, they are awesome. The Portland Highland Games are the right circumstances.
