The future of technology is TCPA?

What is TCPA?

TCPA is the "Trusted Computing Platform Alliance" Group. An alliance between Microsoft, Intel, IBM, HP and AMD which will promote a standard or security for PC's.

But the problem is, is their definition of `security' controversial? Yes, in my opinion, it is.

"machines built according to their specification will be more trustworthy from the point of view of software vendors and the content industry, but will be less trustworthy from the point of view of their owners.
In effect, the TCG specification will transfer the ultimate control of your PC from you to whoever wrote the software it happens to be running. (Yes, even more so than at present.)"

In the a very near future(less than a year) every computer will have a TPM(The trusted computing platform) also known as Fritz-Chip, at later development stages, these functions will be directly included into CPUs, soundcards, harddisks, graphiccards, bios and so on.

This chip will make shure that the computer is secure ina a TCPA-conform state and it will check that it's alwasy on that state.
This means that in the first leves we have the hardware, on the second level comes the TCPA, and only then come us.
The communication works with a 2048 bit strong encryption, so its's secure enough to be impossible to decrypt in the coming years.

This way TCPA can prevent unwanted software and hardware. It will be impossible to use software and hardware thats its not aproved by TCPA.

The consequences:

-"The informational self-determination isn't existing anymore, it's not possible to save, copy, create, program, ..., the data like you want. This applies for privates as for companies."
- "The free access to the IT/Software market is completely prevented for anyone except the big companies, the market as we know it today will get completely destroyed."
- "Restrictions in the usage of owned hardware would apply."
- "The liberty of opinion and the free speech on the internet would finally be eliminated."
- "The own rights while using IT-technologies are history."
- "The national self-determination of the der particular countries would be fully in the hands of the USA."
- "Probably the world would break into two digital parts (Countries that express against TCPA)."

What is your oppinion about the TCPA?

Keep it in your fuckin America, cuz here,in europe such monopoly strategy wont pass :)
This is a huge insult to everyone.
Fuckin americans that think they can controle the whole world...

Dont agree, could limit till

Dont agree, could limit till the system speed, no overclocking no edge no fun.
It maybe become a little more than a micro wave oven.
well i'm against

well, they will control your

well, they will control your computer. U cannot have mp3, nothing at all, you can only do on your computer, what they let you do.

Those Kwazy Europeans~

Just so we're clear about this, the thing is, we 'do' control the world, but don't assume that all of us F*ckin Americans, as you call it, agree with it, like it, and also, do not assume that all of the citizens of this part of the world like having to ship 'good will' coin over to various parts of the lands that you should be caring for yourself, for that matter~

Don't take our aid, our food, our weapons, our money, our bribes, and let us keep it so we can all be the greedy bastards, that personally we all agree to, and quite frankly, enjoy being~ it would be a nice reversal for your government leaders to stop whining to ours about how help is needed with this, needed with that, but you be sure and jump on that proverbial DNA bandwagon and clone a 5 footed buttmonkey before anyone else~

We could assume that you also have bad dental habits and need to insert a few Chicklets into your head, (You know, Chicklets? Huge chunky white pieces of square gum, very minty, and refreshing!) in between bending over for Prince Charles and his 'naughty' ways when he strolls through your part of the country seeing what the 'common man' really does after a few pints, and some french kissing on a dare~ but that too, would be..........wrong.

Americans

I have american friends, and they are realy cool. Offcourse we don't think that way. There things we don't like, and others we like. Nobody is perfect.

our privacy

I've heard about this. It's just insane. It means people cannot be anonymous online anymore.

Just to be clear

This entire post is complete bullshit and an utter misrepresentation of TCPA.

TCPA

So what IS the TCPA?

Maverick's picture

Basically, TCPA is...

Hardware-level security for computers. It is designed to protect your computer from outside attack. If you thinking running a firewall is smart you should love TCPA. "The whole point of TCPA is to put security critical information into hardware, beyond the reach of broken or malicious software." Anyway, you can read more here:
