The Entrepreneur

One of my youngest children was born an entrepreneur. Since the tender age of five, he has been fascinated with making money. I know what you are asking. How do children at that age make money? That's what I asked him when he was coming home with money. This is how the conversation went:

Me:
Honey, where are you getting this money from?

Entrpreneur:
From school. He answers in a matter of fact tone of voice while playing with his toy.

Me:
Where in the school is it coming from?

Entrpreneur:
From the kids.

Me:
Why are you getting money from the kids?

Entrepreneur:
Well, Mommy you know, you and Daddy get me all the "COOL TOYS" and so all the kids want to play with them at recess.

ME:
And????

Entrepreneur:
One kid told me he would give me money if I let him play with my new toys and I let him, so now everyone pays me to "RENT" my toys at recess.

You ask a child an honest question and they give you an honest answer. Who knew????

He's now ten and the other day he came home with a chain thatkids call Bling. He had been out with his father and saw that chain, it was large gawdy and flashy. It was a sunday and he wore it to school the next day. He had purchased it for a dollar.

Afterschool, he rushed in the door. Mom guess what? He exclaimed. "What?" I asked. I wore the Bling to school and the kids were growing crazy over it. "Really?" I said in disbelief. He beamed as he said, "This kid offered to buy it from me. I asked him how much he had and he said $7.00 and so I sold him the chain!" "I made a six dollar profit!" He exclaimed.

I don't quench that spirit, I nurture it. Who knows, he may be the next P. Diddy, Jay Z or Donald Trump. Hey, a mother can dream...
