The End of Checkbook Roulette

I was really upset a few years ago when the banks started doing the thing where the checks clear faster. Wal-mart does this type of accounts receivable conversion now. This means that if you write a check there, they put it directly into your system and the money is immediately withdrawn from your bank account. You can’t play “checking account roulette” anymore because you have to have the money to cover it so it goes through. I didn’t know this awhile ago and wrote a check at Wal-Mart. Luckily, the money was in my account…but there was only a few extra dollars in there after that. I guess with all of the bad checks going around, corporations need to protect themselves, too. I can’t blame them. I mean, it’s not like you can get mad about it. They’re going to take the money out sooner or later. It might as well be sooner than later if you ask me. The longer I have it in my account, the more likely I am to spend it.

Isn't that the truth..... I hate for a place to take a long time to clear the check. The longer it sets in my account the more likely I might spend it.
