I just got finished reading The Darkest Kiss by Keri Arthur. This is book six in the Riley Jensen Guardian Series.
I purchased this book at Kroger, and I actually got a little bit of a deal. I only paid about $5.50 for it. Generally, I purchase my books from Ebay. Due to the prices of the bids though, I've been looking for other ways to purchase my paranormal romances.
This book was good, but it was different from the rest of them.
Riley Jensen is a half-vampire half werewolf guardian. She investigates all things paranormal. Mix that in with a hot-blooded werwolf that has to have sex during the full moon, and you have action.
In the previous books, the focus was more on Riley's love life. And was it hot and juicy! Details about her sex life combined with investigating lethal paranormal entities made for a great book. I think the sex is really what attracted a lot of the readers.
The Darkest Kiss seemed like it was focused more on the paranormal investigation. Basically, it had two killers in the book. Riley's sex life was pretty non-existent throughout the book. It did have a short, good ending though. The love part of it was missing in action.
In a way I was a little disappointed with the whole book. I'm wondering if Keri Arthur isn't starting to get burned out on this series. Maybe she just needs a change?
So far, there are no plans for a book seven yet. I hope that Keri recharges her batteries, and really gives us a great read. I have really enjoyed the Guardian Series a lot!
