The Da Vinci controversy

It is quite apparent that the book as well as the recently launched movie, The Da Vinci Code are becoming a subject of controversy not only in the vatican but also in the whole Christian world.

Let us take a case-study for India where I live. India has mainly a Hindu population followed by Islam and then Christianity. Although, Christians here are more progressed than some religions I was amazed how the government responded to the launch of the movie. Indian politicians are very infamous for doing whatever they feel will do good for their vote bank...so without much resistance from people ant that too from the Catholic Church which was NOT even significant to ban the movie, half-dozen states did ban The Da Vinci Code one of them being Punjab the most prosperous and literate state.

Now I don't beleive if there was any need for that. People understand what is real and what is not. Anyway, people have already read the book so why ban the Movie??

The Govt should be more responsive and practical in their aproaches towards religion and such sensitive issues and not fuse religion with entertainment and mythology.
