I've been fasting the past few weeks or at least tying to fast. The longest I've gone without eating anything is about 26 hours. I've had maybe two or three days where I ate more than once and for the most part eat about only once a day while drinking water the rest of the day.
Over the course of these weeks, I realized that most times I am not hungry... I just want to eat. This was a very profound thought to me and I recalled reading an article on MSN.com about people losing weight while studying the Bible. The article was interesting because people studied the Bible and then ate whenever they were hungry whatever they wanted until they were full. (Note: I noticed that I am now more aware of when my stomach is full.)
I tried searching for the article and found a few interesting alternatives:
The Bible Diet (http://www.retakingamerica.com/health_bible_says.html) and the Hallelujah Diet (http://yourlifesource.com/hallelujah-diet-simple.htm)
The Bible Diet takes direct passages from the Bible and interprets what exactly is okay to eat and what isn't. It also begins with some bit about how eating in excess is a sin. It's an interesting read however I do not think this is really the diet for me. Based on what the author writes in the opening few paragraphs I guess that makes me a sinner.
The Hallelujah Diet is pretty cool looking and it seems similiar to alot of the eat more organic diets that I've seen around as of late.
While I wouldn't mind losing some weight, I began fasting more for spiritual and cleansin purposes. I've ran into some poor health and saw and heard many good things about cleansing through a fast.
Anyhow, the best bet would be to find what works best for you and to exercise.
