The Baby is Here!

babies | family life | pregnancy

My second child and first daughter is here! She was born on October 30th at 2:04pm after being induced. She was 7 pounds, 4.8 ounces, which isn't bad considering that she was born eight days early. She was 19 inches long, and came into this world much easier than my son.

My now-three-year-old son was born with his hand planted firmly on his face. This led to something like 280 pushes over three hours and fifteen minutes. It was rough.

This baby came into the world with nine pushes over a matter of minutes. You can't beat that!

Now, she's not the model child, but she's pretty neat (even though she's a night owl right now, depriving us of all possible sleep).

Thanks for the support of my fellow bloggers throughout my pregnancy!

CONGRATS!!!!

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how did you get them to induce you? I really don't want to wait that long if possible.

It wasn't really my choice

Because I had a poor AFP screening back in week 16 or whatever, and they ruled out pretty much everything that could be wrong with the baby, the only real remaining reason (if there was one) for the bad score was a placenta that might fail toward the end of the pregnancy. From week 32 on I had a non stress test once a week to determine whether the baby was still thriving. At my week 38 appt. the dr said, "Let's talk about getting you unpregnant!" I was shocked! He believed that the baby was healthy at that point and that we shouldn't wait for her to become unhealthy. I was nervous about the whole thing but it went very well.

Thanks and good luck to you. Are you doing well?
