As many of you may know, after September 11, 2001, Congress created the September 11th Victims Compensation Fund. Like much of the aftermath from September 11th, the Fund brought out the worst in some people. Just read the above-linked Wikipedia article for more information on that.

Fortunately, the law offices of simmons jannace, and stagg stepped up to the plate and made a difference. They took it upon themselves to defend the widow of a September 11th victim who was being charged a $2,000,000 contingency fee by her attorney for representing her. Simmons, Jannace & Stagg pointed out that there was no reported case upholding such an exorbitant fee for representation before the Victims Compensation Fund. Finally, they argued that the federal court should abstain because the state Surrogate’s Court had already begun an inquiry into the size of the attorney’s fee.

Considering all the bad things that have emerged from that tragedy, it is great to see that a dedicated group of attorneys are doing what they can to make things right. Should you need any kind of legal assistance, thesed guys seem like a good way to go.
