Thanks For Giving

How many folks actually recite over dinner or even take a moment out of their busy Thanksgiving day to remember the things they are thankful for? I know I’m usually guilty of good intentions and forgetfulness. But, figure I’d go ahead and create a virtual table and invite ya’ll to sit down over some turkey, gravy and cranberry-goodness (Biggest loser be damned with their calorie counting of the cranberry!).

So, what are you thankful for?

I’m thankful for life. Ya, contrived, I know, but true. I am thankful for warmth from the cold. For kindness in a world of liars and thieves. For a car that had every right to die, but is still going! I am thankful for my friends and all the people who love and support me. For the invention of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I am thankful that my baby brother is proud of me and supports my decision to convert. For the chance to shine as I am and never being made to feel that I should change. For men who like fat women, as my butt is sure to get wider by January! I am thankful for the right to hate my country and it’s politics. For being a girl. For my baby girl and all her spastic weirdness. For my sons who are beautifully weird and awsome. I am thankful that with each and every year is the chance to be MY year. I am thankful that most of the time I can almost convince myself that more babies is a possibility. For doctors who care enough to treat patients as people. For the smell of hazelnut candles and pipe tobacco. For the parents who love their children. And, lastly, I am thankful for Rick Hoffman ~ let’s face it, dude is just cool!

Well, that’s my list of thanks. And, for all those here and now ~ for all the support we’ve given each other and for the opinions shared that don’t always meet, yet are given with respect ~ thanks for giving a shit. Sometimes it’s all we got. :-)
