Truly Inspirational

Submitted by seanlovett on January 28, 2008 - 9:32am.

For those of you who did not get a chance to see it, here is the video of Barack Obama's victory speech in South Carolina.

It's been a long time since I've felt inspired by or really believed in a political canidate, but he's manage to do it. At the risk of sounding cheesy, I believe he is my generation's JFK.

I hope he gets the nomination because I plan to vote for him.

Here's the link to the video:

I did hear this speech and you are right...even the Kennedy's agree, seeing as they too are backing him.If he wins the nomination I will vote for him.

I hate to admit it, but when all the candidates started coming out I was for Hillary. I really didn't know anything about Barack. I'm glad that I took the time to investigate. I found that I agree with him more than anyone else when it comes to the issues that are important to me.

And, this might come back to bite me in the ass, but I actually believe what he says in his speeches. I guess time will tell, but I definitely want my vote to go to him.

For some reason Sean the way he presents the issues and the way he figures out how to bring both sides to the table, is what really impresses me. I hope that enough people will pay attention to him, now that he has the Kennedy's stamp of approval...needless to say that might back fire...yikes.

isn't driving a girl over a bridge, we should be ok. ;) I'll admit that maybe I'm just caught up in the moment, but what really gets me about Barack is that when he speaks I feel like he really means what he says. I don't know, he could just be a really good salesman, but I don't think so. I guess we'll find out.

There's just something about that guy that rings a bell with me. I think he's sincere. And I hope to hell he gets the nomination.

listened to him speak. He just feels like he belongs. I really cannot explain it. I like what he stands for, I like that he has new ideas and a young mind. I feel so comfortable about him. I just think he is what this country needs right now. He definitely is getting my vote. I think it will come down to him and Hilary, and it's going to be damn close.

This election is going to be one for the books! Right now I'm still with Hilary, but have also said that my vote will swing right to him if he wins the nomination. It's a tough choice, for true! My feelings are simply that our precarious position right now calls for more experience. But, even with that said, I'm still hopeful that the lack of it may bring about the change we all need! So, I'm just going with my jaded gut, which reminds me that all things that seem too good to be true usually are!

But, as everyone seems to agree - we'll see!

think that he doesn't have experience, but they don't realize or know that he actually served in the Illinois state senate for 8 years before becoming the Senator in 2004. I wish he would talk about that more.

Besides, even if he didn't have any experience, I'm of the mind that maybe that's what this country needs because those who have the experience sure as hell haven't been doing a good job.

The people who have the experience are doing nothing but lining their own pockets and increasing their own power bases for when they leave office. I think Obama is young enough and inexperienced enough to still retain his ideals - which can only be good for the country. Besides, as you mentioned, it's not like he's a babe in the world of politics. He's got alot of senate experience - he knows how things work.

exactly right. Unfortunately, I feel Hillary would do the same. Although, I think she might bring about some positive changes I don't think it would be enough and I don't think she would be willing to go to the mat on issues that really matter.

She tried that back in the 90's with universal health care and got her ass handed to her. I think that's left her a little shy when it comes to getting in the ring and fighting for what's right/what's needed.

Last year, Sean, Hillary made a big show of speaking out against Bush's war agenda and a couple of months later she completely reversed herself because she needed the White House's cooperation on something - then went and reversed herself again because she wanted votes. She does what's good for her, not what her constituents want - and that's what scares me about her. We don't need another President who does what they damn well want even when 80% of the country is screaming at him to stop.

Still, she's one smart cookie and if she gets the nomination she's got my vote. I prefer her agenda over that of the Republicans - hands down.

Surely he's not totally inexperienced - otherwise he'd not be as far along as he is. I always think back to when I was a kid and going to some "thing" that was being held at the local dump. Yes, that sounds crazy, doesn't it? But, they used to have basically an outside thrift store of the usefull things people would throw away. Anyway, a man got up to speak and said that he was running for president! I was wowed, but my dad whispered to me "This guy runs every election! As long as you're the right age and can afford the entry fee, anyone can run! That doesn't mean he has a hope in Hell to win!"

And, while I want desperately to believe that #1: He'd NOT be corrupted by power once in office! #2: That he'd actually be able to make change and NOT get trampled to death by the "seasoned" folks in office. It's actually that Hilary has had her ass handed to her AND her years as Mrs. President that has me hopeful for her. Being the simpleton that I am, I look at it this way. She's already had a front row seat to fights and pitfalls her hubby went through. She's already tried her hand at making change and (hopefully) learned a bit more from that. So, basically, it's the combo of those things that makes me think she'll be better prepared for the BIG fight once in office. Just going through two temrs with Bill gave her more of an insiders view of how to "play the system". I love the ideas that Obama brings to the table. I'm just not sure any of it is even possible in the present climate.

Again, this is all conjecture, but what I'm working with at the moment. Oh, me of little faith. ;-)

what you're saying. I have a lot of respect for the Clintons and think that Bill was a great president. What turns me off about Hillary is that after she got her ass handed to her she started taking money from pharmaceutical and insurance companies. The same companies that are the reason our health care is so ridiculous right now.

Oh, and the fact that she sat on the board of Wal-Mart, a company that I loathe with a passion.

For the first time in how long? We're actually faced with what seems like a REAL race! We're not forced to chose between the lesser of the two evils! Doesn't that kinda blow your mind???? Here, we have two candidates that most people support one more than the other, BUT are not feeling that if the favored looses, all is lost! I know I don't! And, just having this - just having this moment in time - no matter who wins the nomination - we've as a country have finally been heard that bullshit is no longer acceptable! From here on out, it looks like we're more likely to have less evil running and more that's good for us all.

but if hillary wins the nomination I won't feel as good about voting and will be voting for her simply because she'd be better than any of the republican candidates. I don't want to feel like that any more. I felt like that in 2000 when I voted for Gore and again in 2004 when I voted for Kerry. I want to be excited about who I vote for again. I want to actually believe in them and I just don't feel that way about hillary.

joke and I had to share it with you!

The Pope and Hillary Rodham Clinton (HRC) are on the same stage in front of a huge crowd.

'Her Majesty' and His Holiness, however, have seen it all before, so to make it a little more interesting, the senator says to the Pope, "Did you know that with just one little wave of my hand I can make every Democrat in the crowd go wild?"

He doubts it, so she shows him. Sure enough, the wave elicits rapture and cheering from every democrat in the crowd. Gradually, the cheering subsides.

The Pope, not wanting to be out done by such a level of arrogance, considers what he could do. "That was impressive. But did you know that with just one little wave of MY hand I can make EVERY person in the crowd go crazy with joy? This joy will not be a momentary display like that of your subjects, but will go deep into their hearts, and they will forever speak of this day and rejoice."

The senator seriously doubts this, and says so. "One little wave of your hand and all people will rejoice forever? Show me."

So the Pope slapped her.
