Attipat Krishna swamy Ramanujan (1929-1993) was born in Mysore and educated at Mysore and Indiana university in the U.S. He lived in Chicago where he taught dravidian studies at the University of Chicago until hs death. Well known as a poet in English , Ramanujan also translated poems and stories from Tamil and Kannada. His areas of interest included philosophy, language, literature, fine arts, anthropology, religion, history, folklore and folk arts.
