The Sudanese government denies allegations that they support the janjaweed, an Arab militia group which are believed to be responsible for most of the worst atrocities. It is believed that covert assistance is being give by the government to the janjaweed and others committing human rights violations in the region. This come amid reports from civilians fleeing Darfur that they had seen villagers raped or killed by members of the Sudan Liberation Movement

As promised, the Center for Constitutional Rights has indeed filed a suit in Germany against Donald Rumsfeld for war crimes based upon the torture of prisoners on Abu Graib and Guantanamo Bay. Hopefully this time the German courts will not dismiss the case, and Rummy will be tried for his alleged personal authorization of the torture and abuse of prisoners of war.
