Would you continue to pretend
That life's path could bend
To give endless time to spend.
It all ends for everyone
But we continue to push on
As if no end exists for the rising sun
If You Pick Up The Phone, Are You Responsible For What Happens Next?
Submitted by Jeanne Gibson on November 1, 2006 - 11:01pm. counselor | Suicide | teens | volunteerMy granddaughter is quite a volunteerer She has tutored kids younger that herself at school; she has made quilts for small children in the women and children’s department of our local mission, and she spent time last summer doing a variety of jobs at a senior citizens center. Today I asked her if she had ever considered volunteering as a counselor on a suicide hotline.
“Never! was her emphatic reply. When I asked her why not, she said, “I could never live with myself if I ever thought I might have been the one to finally push someone over the line.

Right now, I'm working hard on mine, and trying to break into the world of freelance writing and editing. You can usually work online, and it pays quite well actually. The best part is, every project you complete not only pays well, but also gives you that much more for your portfolio!
I'm pretty excited. My boyfriend and I are currently building a house, and it's going to be out in the country, which limits my opportunities to work. This is right up my alley!
My volunteer job just got a lot easier.
Submitted by IntricateGirl on July 3, 2006 - 5:01am. internet | pluggd | podcast | searching | volunteerI've briefly written here about how I work at an internet media publisher doing searches. I am an internet researcher, and I say with only a small amount of bragging (heehee) that I am VERY good at what I do. There are several searches I am very proud of, but without talking about the media company's business, I have found the name and artist for a CD that had no identifying marks and was a spoken word album. Picture in your mind trying to find out who Garrison Keillor is by hearing his radio show, but not his name. It would be difficult. I've also found a movie I watched as a child. I didn't know the name of the movie, it was animated so there were no stars, and it was foreign to boot! But I found it. And after I discovered the name, I found it in a public library, and I was able to enjoy it once again.
