WASHINGTON - U.S. exports to Iran — including brassieres, bull semen, cosmetics and possibly even weapons — grew more than tenfold during President Bush's years in office even as he accused Iran of nuclear ambitions and helping terrorists. America sent more cigarettes to Iran, at least $158 million worth under Bush, than any other products.

The United States, as well as all other countries are going to hell in a handbasket. When I think back over this week alone, I cannot come up with a single news item that I read, listened to, or saw that wasn't about how bad things are in the world in general, and in the United States in particular.
Illegal Immigrants are NOT the Same as Legal Immigrants
Submitted by LaundryMom on February 26, 2008 - 9:11am. america | illegal immigrants | immigration | melting pot | United StatesI woke up this morning with a "bee in my bonnet" about something I saw on the news last night before I went to bed. It was a story about how there is going to be an immigration protest rally in Annapolis, Maryland today. I used to be what people would call a "bleeding heart" liberal when I was freshly graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Social Work. I believed that everyone needs to be treated with respect and everyone deserves an equal chance at living a good life, everything is all hearts and flowers, blah, blah blah. Now, twenty-some years later, I am not so much a bleeding heart but rather a common sense, no-bones-about-it kind of person. I have seen enough of the injustices and misconceptions that have occured because we Americans have been, on the whole, a kind and benevolent country. We have become push-overs, and have become confused about the difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants. This great country has become great because we are a melting pot of different people. Everyone had something to add to the pot, everyone used to be work to better themselves and the communties they lived in. Now, if you listen to the news media spin on immigration, you would think that Americans are evil, cold, closed-minded and selfish because we want our government to enforce immigration laws. If I were an immigrant who came here to work and make a better life for myself, and I did all the required paperwork and passed the required tests,I would be outraged at what the illegal immigrants are doing now. It seems to me that no other country would be asked to do what we are doing. Does Canada allow people to come to their country illegally and make demands of her healthcare system, legal system, educational system, and almost every institution there? Does Great Britain, Ireland, Australia,Japan or any other country? Why is it that when we want to protect ourselves, our institutions and all we have worked for, we become evil and uncaring? I want my children to grow up with every advantage possible, but if we allow illegals to continue to come here and make demands for "equal rights,"when they truly haven't earned them and don't have repect for others' rights, we are risking all that we legal citizens have worked for.
Cricket in the United States
Submitted by abhilash on June 6, 2006 - 5:38pm. cricket | India | Sports | United StatesIndia and West Indies are planning to play a one-day series later this year in the United States. Like the substitute system, ICC comes up with such bizarre ideas occasionally.
The move is vigorously supported by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Indian board will be fund the entire series. It seems BCCI is targeting the large South Asian population in the United States but they are announcing it as a part of global expansion. Global expansion can only take place if the number one player in globe is included. True. But.
Why United States only rarely interferes in Africa?
Submitted by abhilash on June 3, 2006 - 7:56am. Africa | politics | United StatesUnited States of America considers itself as the custodian of democracy. They cannot tolerate any totalitarian regimes. They will go to any extent to see that democracy is restored. They did it in Iraq. Now they are after Iran.
The worst totalitarian regimes and murderers of democracy exist in Africa. The classic example is the suffering of a section of Sudanese people in the Darfur region. Mass rapes and refugees are an every day story. Numerous other African nations are starving and dictators and warlords control these nations. Apart from a very bad experience in Somalia, United States is rarely interested in assuring in democratic regimes in Africa. No idea, why this double standard.
Prostitution in HIGH SCHOOL
Submitted by realitycheck on January 24, 2006 - 1:35pm. crime | debates | drugs | high school | NBC | news | POVERTY | prostitution | sex | solution | United States"Teachers wrote a letter claiming major problems are plaguing the South Central Los Angeles campus including students who are gambling, drinking, cutting classes, using profanity, smoking marijuana, threatening teachers and committing sexual acts.
Several teachers told NBC4 they agree with the letter but only one would talk on camera if we didn't show her face.
"You can walk around campus and you're not sure when class is in and when it isn't because there's so many students roaming around. There's not a respect for authority," she said.
