Did Edison actually invent Electric Bulb

THOMAS EDISON is normally credited as having invented the electric bulb. But in fact he improved the idea. That others had been experimenting with for 50 years.
HENRT WOODWORD AND MATTHEW EVANS of Toronto patented light bulb in 1875 but could not raise the money to commercialise it.

Edison who had been working on the same idea, bought the rights to patent. By 1880, he had produced 16 watt bulb that could last 1500 hours and began to market it . Mean while in the UK JOSEPH SWAN was granted a UK patent for a bulb in 1878 .
