Thai food is internationally famous. Whether chilli-hot or comparatively blands, harmony is the guiding principle behind each dish. Thai cuisine is essentially a marriage of centuries-old Eastern and Western influences harmoniously combined into something uniquely Thai. The characteristics of Thai food depend on who cooks it, for whom it is cooked, for what occasion, and where it is cooked to suit all palates. Originally, Thai cooking reflected the c
haracteristics of a waterborne lifestyle. Aquatic animals, plants and herbs were major ingredients. Large chunks of meat were eschewed. Subsequent influences introduced the use of sizeable chunks to Thai cooking.

While the water splashing will flourish, the traditional values of Songkran are the focus of the 2008 celebrations.
Songkran is without doubt the most popular of all Thai festivals and rightly so.
It marks the beginning of a new astrological year and its exact dates are determined by the old lunar calendar of Siam. This year the three-day festival falls on 13 to 15 April.
What Kind of Food Are You?

Also, people "seek me out, although they are not sure why." ah, that is comforting. Anyway, I've never even eaten thai food before. Go figure.
I got a mini digital camera today at walgreen's for about $20, so if it works, I'll be posting more pictures here very soon.
Klong - the Thai restaurant
Submitted by alainedances on March 6, 2006 - 1:19pm. dinner | new york city | restaurant | thai foodWe had Thai food at Klong last night for dinner. The prices were reasonable and the portions were decent sized. We ordered the grilled squid legs, green curry puff, pad thai, and mint fried rice. The grilled squid legs were actually tasty, I am not a big fan of squid so my boyfriend ate most of them. It came with a garlic spicy sauce and I used that as a dipping sauce for my curry puffs. The curry puffs were filled with potato and chicken, although I would've liked to have the puffs come with its own dipping sauce and perhaps not just three of them but four puffs.
