In my neverending battle to end the serious amount of Stupid pouring out of my son's school, I have yet another edition in the "I Hate My Son's School Chronicles". In other words, I'm pissed off again. And yes, I mean Stupid, not stupidity. They are pushing it so hard that it's become a trademark.

My son came home and told me that they had planned to finish watching Godzilla, but the principal came by and told them they shouldn't watch it. Because I'm not in the habit of watching sh*tty movies, I looked it up online. PG-13!! For those keeping track, my son isn't 13. He isn't close enough to 13 to have some kids in his class that are 13. I've got some former classmates that have 13 year olds, but I waited to get knocked up until the ripe old age of 22.

Who cures the sickly
But you cure the lonelines of the human soul

You're not a lawyer
Who defends liars
But you defend hte righteousness

You're not a farmer
Who plants food to feed
But you plant knowledge and moral values

George Bush Is My Teacher

bush | satire | teacher

I have learned many things since George Bush has been the President of the United States. And, because I practice gratitude over vengeance, I would like to convey my thanks for all this 'good learning'.

Thank you, George, for demonstrating that a facade of ignorance will allow me to do things that integrity and mindfulness would disallow. I am assusming that you are not ignorant.

Unfortunately, this means that your presentation is a sly tom-foolery to achieve vague and often mis-spoken goals.

Who Are Your Teachers?

development | education | growth | teacher

Learning can take place in the most unpredictable of places. There are the standard venues, including school, internships, church, books, and parents. There are friends and other acquaintenances that may contribute to an individuals' overall learning curve.

There seems to have been a significant drop-off in the learning that gets passed on via family channels. Parent-mentors, it appears, are being replaced by peers in the schoolyard. And if that goes bad, then the counselor, therapist, or probation officer will pick up the slack. Quite sad, the loss of this inherent mentoring system.
