Stress can trigger a surge in hormones, such as cortisol and adrenaline, which can cause fatigue, headaches, or back pain. There are foods and drinks that can be used to ease stress.

Carbohydrates are good at easing stress. They can boost the levels of serotonin in the brain and make you feel calmer. Serotonin is a chemical that controls the stress management system in the brain.

Antioxidants are very important in achieving healthy skin. They work by turning free radicals into benign compounds and stop them from causing inflammation, DNA mutation, and loss of collagen. They can help to prevent wrinkles, spots, and possibly skin cancer. Green Tea, Vitamin C, Idebenone, Pomegranate, and CoffeeBerry are all rich in antioxidants.

How To Brew Tea Out Of Loose Tea Leaves

A nicely packaged box of loose tea leaves, flavored with vanilla, mango, citrus or some other fancy addition, can be a beautiful gift item. However, not many people know how to properly make tea out of loose tea leaves. Too used to convenient little tea bags, many of us don't even own a teapot. People avoid loose tea leaves for fear that the process of using them is too much of a nuisance.

I was overly excited when I first learnt about the benefits of the ubiquitous tea. It is so easily available, so widely known and God knows how many people it has probably saved, even unknown to that individual. This is a continuation of the first part, bringing you more exciting properties of the humble tea.

Health Benefits of Tea

Written by Gloria Tsang R.D.
Published in April 2006

Tea is the most commonly consumed beverage in the world after water. Whether it is black, green or red (oolong) tea, they all contain polyphenols which give tea its antioxidant properties. Antioxidants may help protect our body from free radical damage. Indeed, tea ranks as high as or higher than many fruits and vegetables in the ORAC score, a score which measures antioxidant potential of plant-based foods.

Could there be anything better than a hot, fresh brewed cup of coffee? As you open that can of pre-ground Maxwell House Coffee, did you even know that coffee comes in different roasts? Did you know that you can roast your own coffee beans at home? If you think that the aroma of your fresh ground coffee beans can't be beat, get a home coffee roaster, you'll be in Java Heaven.

Second appt with Dr Adoue

We had our 2nd vet appt on the 15th of Feburary. Again Dr Adoue gave her a very through exam. Listening to her heart and lungs, checked the poop for worms, examed the eyes in the light and in the dark. We got our first puppy shot and yes Prissi did cry and so did her momma. She stopped before I did though. She is the epitome of the perfect pup!! Again Dr Adoue was very, very pleased and will see her again in 3 weeks for more of those awful shots!!! I can not express to you the simple joy I receive from her every single day. The teething part is not so good!! But really and truly, had I not gotten her when I did, I don't think I would be able to be here writing this today. For those of you who have read my previous blogs knows the story, for those who haven't I lost my dog on Dec 20, 2006 and this new puppy I have was born on Dec 20, 2006. So you could say that I took it has a sign that I was suppose to get one ofthe pups. I in fact picked her out when she was just 11 days old. When it was time for me to go and get her, she was the runt of the litter to say the least. She is still smaller now then her siblings were at 6 weeks. She is a miniture doxie, and I beleive she was heaven sent...

About Tea

About Black Tea
Black or red tea as the Chinese call it, is picked and rolled to expose the juices in the leaf to the air fully, and then fired. The majority of black tea being produced today represents the most ordinary, substandard tea ever made. Our black teas from China, Assam, Darjeeling and Ceylon are the world's finest, full of complexity, variety and beauty of appearance.

The Lack of Decent Tea in France

In France there is wonderful, fresh food, beautiful wine, lovely people, a super way of life and many other great things that make me choose it as the place I want to be. However, what there isn't is decent tea, being English by birth, tea is the punctuation point of life. In any difficulty, happiness or sadness the English immediately brew a pot of tea and sit down to drink it. The time it takes to brew and drink a cup of tea gives you time to think or to take news in, or a wise or diplomatic answer to any given situation. It's a cultural thing. The English take their tea mostly with milk and/or sugar and English tea is strong compared with french tea.

Liquids and Weight Loss

Drinking a lot of water is essential if you want to reach a long-term, permanent, healthy weight loss goal. I drink a minimum of around 2 liters of plain water a day, which is about half a gallon. In general I probably drink a lot more than that.

If you are exercising regularly it’s even more important to keep yourself hydrated. The recommended intake of water for active people is quite a lot. You should at least drink a full glass of water before you exercise and then continue to hydrate yourself throughout the workout. This increases the efficiency of your workout and helps prevent exhaustion and symptoms of dehydration, like headaches and dizziness. Drinking several glasses of water an hour or two before you workout is even more efficient. Essentially, you should have a bottle of water with you at all times. By the end of a 30-40 minute cardio workout my liter sized water bottle is nearly empty.
