One of the most profitable segments of your online business is your list. With a good list, you can develop a continuing source of online income. In fact, you can expect to generate about one dollar each month for each of your subscribers. That is twelve dollars per year for each person on your list. To maximize the size of your list, follow these procedures below:

1. Register with a good autoresponder. The major companies in the field are Aweber and Getresponse. Dealing with one of these large outfits has many advantages. They will maintain your records and take care of many of the details for you.

2. Display your subscription box prominently on your website. The major autoresponder companies provide you with easy to install code to create your subscription box.

3. Offer visitors an incentive to join your list. Good incentives include free reports, ebooks, ecourses, or anything free that is related to your niche.

4. Ask for as little information as possible on your opt in box. The more information you request, the fewer people will subscribe. To maximize subscriptions, request just a first name and email address.

5. Display a privacy statement near your opt in box. Let people know that you would never sell, rent, or otherwise disclose the information they provide.

6. Let people know how they will benefit by subscribing to your list. Use headlines and bullets in your description.

7. Contact new subscribers quickly and provide them with the free incentive you promised. Waiting two or three days to send out a promised incentive is a sure way to alienate list members and generate “unsubscriptions.”

8. Always provide quality information to members of your list. Send them valuable information, free gifts, and items of interest.

9. Don’t try to sell your subscribers something every day. Limit your sales pitches to once a week or so.

Writing articles is a great way to market and promote your website and products. But, for each goal the technique is a little different.

The first technique I’ll discuss is increasing the number of backlinks and improving search engine exposure. To accomplish this, you want to get your article into the largest number of article directories and websites as possible. With each article you write, include a text link that includes the name of your site in the resource box. For example, if your site is Knitters Heavenly Wool.com, your text link should say; ‘Knitters Heavenly Wool.’ In addition, you should submit your article to as many directories as possible. I submit articles to 125 to 150 sites when I am submitting for backlinks. You do not need to make this many submissions every day, but try to submit articles for backlinks about once each month.

When writing articles for traffic, the technique is a little different. Submit your article to the 20 to 25 largest article directories. Include no more than two links in your resource box. The first link should direct people to your website. If you include a second link, it should point to a related product that you are promoting. By including just one link, you will maximize the number of clicks you get going to your site. This is the best way to increase traffic. Write at least one article every day to get the most traffic possible.

Writing for income entails a slightly different strategy. Again, you should submit your articles to the 20 to 25 largest sites. But in this case, include three links in each resource box. You first link should point to your squeeze page. This will increase the size of your list and will provide you with the opportunity to make great profits in the future. Your second and third links should direct readers to products that you are promoting. You can use your own products or affiliate items. To optimize this strategy, you should submit two or three articles every day. Submitting just one article a day will work okay, but your progress will be much slower.
