Here's something to be thankful for - it's been months since one of those horrifically big Huntsman spiders has been seen streaking through my house. Many moons ago I wrote a blog entry here about it. I'm too lazy to look it up and link to it, but of course YOU should scroll back and read it :)**

I just rounded the corner on my way to the kitchen and I came face to face with a rather large spider. He froze, perhaps startled that I had caught him in a rather unspiderly lazy walk across the floor rather than showing off impressive spider feats like walking across the ceiling or wall. I've seen spiders run and they can really organize those eight legs to get a move on, but this one stayed frozen long enough for me to locate a suitable weapon (one that wouldn't suffer from wearing some smashed spider guts) and use it.

It happened again! I get the monitor turned off, and I am all ready to go to bed. I go to brush my teeth, and there is a HUGE spider waiting in my bathtub. I don't know why they like my bathtub so much, but I have killed most of them in there.

The other night, when my daughter was sick, she woke me up. I came downstairs drowsily and got her a drink. As I was heading back up, I noticed that there was the largest wolf spider I'd ever seen, and it was about two inches from where my head just passed by.

Last night I found another wolf spider in my house. Because I have a terrible phobia towards spiders, I decided this would be a good blog topic.

Lots of us have irrational fears. In fact, most of us realize they are irrational. I can tell myself that I need not be afraid of heights because the ladder I am standing on has operated perfectly, is on level ground, and has little chance of falling. Yet I still go weak kneed and actually increase my chances of falling everytime I get on one. I can tell myself that while wolf spiders are ugly, they are not dangerous. Yet the thought that these creatures with WAY too many legs are carrying around their babies in their hairy legs, and are ready to send them out like a virus at the first sign of danger is enough to send me into fits.
