futbol | soccer | Sports | world cup

First off, no this isn't a joke. No, its not a scam.

I'm a senior in college. I'm an art / photography major and my younger brother has been playing soccer for several years. I signed up on a website called Brickfish to win scholarships, contests and prizes about a year or so ago. I randomly decided to check out the website today.

Another day the coach didn't show up

children | coaching | Kids | soccer | Sports

Well, we are almost past another season of soccer at the YMCA.

I really haven't been to pleased with the coach. It's not a professional. Just a parent that decided to coach. But he just doesn't show up sometimes. About two weeks ago, we waited and waited and noone ever showed up for practice. Then today, we had a practice scheduled and noone showed up at all. Being that none of the parents showed up, I am assuming they cancelled the practice. So why didn't they call to let us know?

Zidane Heads World Cup Crown into Italy's Hands

azzurri | bleus | cup | FIFA | football | France | futbol | Italy | soccer | world | zidane

Could you believe it? With roughly 5 minutes remaining in the 1st OT (Extra Time) period, the last twenty minutes of a tie game that would have to be decided on penalty kicks if the tie wasn't broken, Zinedine Zidane, the famous French striker known for his beautiful footwork and deliciously alliterative name, pulled perhaps the worst move I've ever seen a team captain pull in any sport at any time. Ever. With the most important title in all of sports (back down, sports fans. No sport is watched more or cared about around the WORLD than soccer) on the line and France dominating the play against the exhausted and conservative Italians, Zidane decided that it would be prudent to use his head as a spear with which to rock the solar plexus of Italian defender Marco Materazzi in one of the cheapest and most vicious attacks I've ever seen on the pitch. Materazzi had been defending Zidane all game, and was quite physical with the bald Frenchman, frustrating him often. Zidane DID also get robbed on a header that was struck true but cast aside at the last second by Italian goalie Gianluigi Buffon just a few minutes earlier, keeping the score tied and leaving the Italians with a chance, which they would take by the balls and make good on a short time later. The frustration of the game-saving effort from Buffon and the continued shadow of Materazzi obviously got to Zidane, and he simply lost it at the worst possible time.

FIFA WORLD CUP FINAL 2006 : ITALY will win it!

FIFA world cup final 2006 | football | italy vs france | soccer

My loyalty is undivided. I'm neither French nor Italian. When the World cup 'finally started' (the elimination rounds) - I proudly wore my African colours of RED, GOLD and GREEN, as Ghana carried the hopes of my continent.

With my continent out, I picked up the colours of my adoptive home: come on England (it had little to do with two thirds of my family being British). But with Becks &
Rooney off, and time quickly running out, the celebrations of 1966 were not to be repeated on that day either.

Bum's Rush At the World Cup

eroticism | football | humor | miniskirts | O Ceallaigh's Observations | satire | soccer | world cup

I’ve been hearing a lot about football butts lately. No, NFL training camps haven’t started yet. Please. Sell that so-called sport to the Japanese, let them call it what it is – Team Sumo – and get it out of my face already.

The World Cup is on. The football World Cup. I refuse to call it “soccer". This is the original football. You know? As in “you play the ball with your foot?" Played by dudes you can actually see what they look like. None of this “two tons of body armor" stuff. Mind you, a 350-lb. (25 stone, 160 kilos) NFL offensive lineman with terminal Dunlap’s Disease is probably grateful for the concealment. Not so your true football stud. Give him a good set of cleats. A decent jersey – which he’ll rip off at any excuse. And, um, shorts.

Sports Betting. NO FREE Picks >:0

Baseball | basketball | Gambling | soccer | world cup

The NBA Champion was crowned last night. Unfortunately I did not have a chance to write about it today. Where there’s a will, there isn’t always a way nowadays. Anyways, as anyone who reads my blog knows, I picked Dallas to win. I was wrong. I admit it. But what have we learned here. Numero uno: Pat Riley is a great coach. Now I knew he was a very good coach, but he did most of his damage with the showtime Lakers of the 80’s. I was still a twinkle in my father’s eye back then. He had some good years with the Knicks and in his first stint as the Heat coach, but he didn’t win anything. When you don’t win, it tends not to matter how good you really are. Today, Dwayne Wade is everyone’s vote getter for best player in the league. A month ago he was just very good.

So I have taken another week off from posting an entry. I decided that since we are in the thick of the NHL and NBA finals, the U.S. Open, and the World Cup, it is only right that I give you guys something.

My my, how things have changed. A few days ago it seemed like it was only a matter of time before the NBA and NHL champions would be crowned. Since falling down 2 games to none, the Edmonton Oilers have reeled off 2 out of 3, keeping their championship aspirations alive. This includes a game 5 overtime victory, the winning goal scored by Fernando Pisani. He was quoted as saying it’s probably the biggest goal he had ever scored. Gee, ya think?

Good Morning. It’s still pretty early out here in the West. I am watching England versus Paraguay. I recorded the game so I am a little behind. I am just about through to the second half so nobody ruin it for me.

Anyway, I didn’t have a chance to write on Friday because I was so worn out from drinking on Wednesday night that all I could do was sleep when I got home Thursday. If I don’t at least get my ideas in writing the night before I will not be able to write the day of because of work. I have to go back to something that happened on Wednesday at the bar. I saw two women kiss. Not just any two women. I would describe one as sexy. And the other somewhere between very pretty and cute with a nice body. Actually, they both had nice bodies. Different, but equally nice.

As you know I cover all realms of the sports world from auto racing to football to horse racing. I am not as knowledgeable in all facets, but I try. This week, two new sports will be added to the repertoire, track and soccer. Soccer will be making an appearance later on in the week. With the World Cup starting on Friday I would be totally remiss in not mentioning futbol. Actually I really like soccer and I plan to watch as many World Cup matches as possible. But first, track. Over the weekend I watched Marion Jones win a 100 meter race. I did not even know she was still competitive, but apparently she has now won her last three races. She reportedly had to ask permission to be in this race because she was not invited to this particular meet in New York. She looked great. Her body was chiseled. And fast. She blew away the reigning women’s world champion in the 100 meters, and the current #1 ranked woman in the 100 meters. These are two different people. As a former track athlete and a sprinter I have always had an affinity for 100 meter dash.
