I've never read the books (I plan to eventually someday). But the movies are pretty good, The last one, goblet of fire was really good. I liked it better than Narnia (both opened at the same time.)

An Index to The Run Down: Entertainment for September, 2006.
September is one of the shortest months on the calendar, but man, has it been a long one for the entertainment world! And I have hardly even scratched the surface of the new season shows (and there are several good ones!)... Anna Nicole's tragi-comic travails alone have spanned the globe, on both land and sea, and included all the biggies: love and marriage, death and birth, drugs and overdoses. But aside from her, September was the month for celebrity arrests -- especially DUIs!

It is the tool that propels writers into the realms of the unimaginable, the muse that sparks great tales in speculative fiction. It's what makes the Sci-Fi Channel so much fun.
As they have evolved from running a constant stream of syndicated programs, re-running some guilty pleasures such as the Incredible Hulk and the Twilight Zone, they have given us some powerful television original to the network. Newest to their infectious brand of shows is Eureka.

The weirdest thing is that, no matter how much a geek I am otherwise, I never really got into the Sci-Fi Channel until Ghost Hunters started a couple years back. Oh, I'd flip over and check it out if nothing else was on, or if it was a horror movie (they often show stuff like Fright Night, The Lost Boys, and so on), but as for their regular fare (Battlestar Galactica, Stargate, so on), it just never stroked my goat... er, whatever. Regardless, Sci-Fi was the Mystery Science Theater 3000 Channel and nothing more -- until they canceled that -- and then it became just "nothing more."
