Red radishes have almost no nutritive value. They contain no vitamin A, are very low in protein, and contain only a little vitamin C and potassium. However, they are good filler in salads. They can also pickled or used in stir fry veggies or soups. They also can be used to make a variety of food decorations on a buffet table!

Salad in a Sack
Submitted by Brenna Fender on April 1, 2008 - 7:56pm. cooking | family life | humor | Recipes | saladI just made myself a salad. "Made" is a bit of a stretch. I opened the "salad in a sack" package, poured some into a bowl, added a dash of cheese, and sprinkled on a little dressing. I noticed that the sack o' salad had a recipe for Cobb salad on the back. The prep time for this recipe was 25 minutes.
Hot Idea:Spruce Up Your Salad!
Submitted by pinakigoswami on February 8, 2008 - 5:42am. CHOP | coriander | Food | onion | salad | soak | spice | taste | tips | TOMATO | vinegar1) If you mix the oil and vinegar into a salad separately, add the oil first. If you reverse the order, the oil just slides off the wet leaves.
2) Slice tomatoes vertically rather than horizontally. The slices will stay firmer in your salad and they'll help keep the salad dressing from getting watery.
A Short Note on Tomatoes

So often do I eat my vegetables in a the form of a salad that I forget sometimes how they look and taste separately. This was also the case with tomatoes.
I just wanted to have a quick snack before going to bed. I have heard that this is not the healthiest practice in the world, so perhaps I was punished for it. Having prepared a simple cheese sandwich, I wanted to add something juicy; I opened the fridge in search of a suitable fruit and my eyes fell upon the nutritious tomatoes.
Oriental Chicken Salad
Submitted by busymom on March 5, 2007 - 2:19pm. chicken | Discovery Channel | improvement | saladServes 8-10
2 lbs Cole Slaw mix
1 bunch green onions cut into slaw
4 pkgs. Ramen Noodles
1/4 cup butter or marj.
1/2 cup slivered almonds
4-6 cups cooked chopped chicken (I just use the meat off a rotisserie chicken)
Place cole slaw mix in a large bowl, mix in green onions. In frying pan melt the butter then crunch up the Ramen noodles in the bags they're in and then dump into skillet, removing the seasoning pack. Add the almonds to the frying pan too. Stir constantly until the noodles and almonds are lightly browned.
Just before serving add browned noodles to the slaw mix. Stirring well, add the dressing.
Dressing:
1 cup water
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
3 Tablespoons soy sauce
Place all the ingredients in a pint size jar and shake well. Just before serving toss the salad with the dressing.

My three and a half days on a raw food diet.
Submitted by IntricateGirl on August 31, 2006 - 3:00pm. diet | raw food | salad | veggiesFor those of you taking bets on how long I would last, I caved. And then again, I didn't. Most raw foodists consider 75%+ of your diet to be a successful raw diet. I've gone three and a half days at probably 95% raw foods. Tonight I needed something hot. lol
Tonight, I'm having a lovely mexican chicken soup. Apart from the microscopic bites of chicken, it is all veggies, and the calories are really great, so even this isn't a defeat. Pretty much everyone agrees that there's no way to go on a raw food diet cold tofurkey. Ha! I made a vegan joke. Somebody shoot me.
Scrambled Eggs, Feta, and Tabasco Sauce
Submitted by ms zola on June 17, 2006 - 7:24pm. feta | Food | personality | salad | TabascoOpening the refrigerator door, I knew right away what I wanted. Mixed greens, feta, avocado, artichoke hearts, and black olives. Yummo! Until I pulled out the lettuce....
This summer heat destroys everything. The fridge stays cold enough so why the ruined greens? No greens, no salad.
I still wanted to feta cheese...in fact it was probably the feta I wanted all along...the salad was just an excuse. There were plenty of eggs. Eggs and feta.....eggs,feta, and Tabasco....now there's a meal.
