The Importance of Keeping Records

I try my best to pay the rent and utilitiy bills on time. When it comes to credit cards I try to pay more than the minimum each month. This is where my battle begins.

The Urban Cowboy
Submitted by narwhaler on August 14, 2006 - 4:36pm. cowboy | ebay | lennon | milk | recordsI usually wake up around 9 in the morning to have plenty of time to open the store by 10. Today I woke up a bit early, so I figured I could use the extra time to work on some accounting stuff I had been putting off for the past few days. Even with the extra half hour, I still managed to be late. Not that it matters since it is usually dead (with the exception of the old ladies looking for the law offices two doors down from us) for about an hour or so when we first open the doors. Not seconds after I unlock the door, a familiar face is making his way across the street. I like to call him the urban cowboy. You would understand if you saw him. He is a stout man, that always wears a cowboy hat, tucked in t-shirt, a belt buckle the size of his head, blue jeans that are way too big, black boots, and spurs. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the bright red handlebar moustache and the beer gut the size of a small child. I swear this guy waits in his car outside the store everyday, and if there is ever a day that we open a few minutes late, we will hear about it.

Since they’re playing a 4 game set with the San Diego Fathers, the games are on tv here. When these two teams match up, it may seem like a regular game to the average person, but there are a few storylines that are worth exploring. During the off season, the Mets chose not to re-sign hall of fame catcher Mike Piazza. Although he made his name as a Dodger, he spent the bulk of his career in New York. He has the second most homeruns of anyone who has ever donned a Met uniform? You get a prize if you can tell me who is number one on that list.

Baseball | basketball | Food | Gambling | Make Money | nudity | records | sports bettingI didn’t monitor basketball or baseball too closely yesterday. A quick perusal of the scoreboards reveals a sub par 5-6 NBA record and a subber par 5-7 MLB record. I immediately notice that many of the underdogs in basketball have covered and even won. Overall, 9 of the 11 underdogs covered. And over the past 3 days 18 of 25 underdogs have covered. I am going to say that is somewhere between 71 and 72%, which is very high. The sports books like this because people tend to bet on favorites. As I am writing, the Cleveland Cavaliers have snapped the New Jersey Nets’ 14 game winning streak in East Rutherford. This comes one game after the Cavs were beaten by the hapless New York Knickerbockers, snapping their own season long 9 game win streak. Got it? The Knicks own the worse record in the league, but interestingly enough have won 2 straight by way of Jamal Crawford buzzer beaters. Anyway that 14 game win streak tied the Nets longest win streak in franchise history and bested the Mavericks by 1 game for the longest win streak this season. Speaking of streak snapping; one game after snapping a 38 game hit streak, Jimmy Rollins got 3 hits last night. The Phills still loss, dropping their record to 0-4. As a Met fan this is very good to see a fellow NL East foe struggle. It’s a nice day down here in So Cal. I am going to relax, take in a little Masters action, and maybe cook up a nice meal. I love good food. Have a good one. Here’s the deal:

Submitted by James Champion on April 7, 2006 - 11:08am. alcohol | Baseball | basketball | drinking | Gambling | porn | records | sports bettingThis just in: The Miami Heat stink. They lost yet another game versus one of the league’s elite squads and at home no less. This loss comes on the heels of Shaq complaining through the media about the officials. The big bully is asking the officials for help. Sure Shaq takes a pounding. But he gives it as good or even better than he takes it. My Lakers loss to the Nuggets on the road, but I am proud of them for playing so hard. They rebounded from a 18 point deficit and Kobe hit a 4 point play late in the fourth to send the game into OT. I was kind of glad to see someone other than Kobe take the game winning shot because he normally gets triple teamed in those situations, but not Luke Walton. Maybe Smush Parker or Lamar Odom or Brian Cook. At least the Mets won. In his first start of the season, Pedro Martinez looked like the Pedro of old…somewhat. He did not pitch that well, but he pitched inside which is a trademark of his. As a result he hit about 4 dudes almost inciting a bench clearing brawl. My days of freedom are numbered so I think I might start drinking in the afternoon today. When Monday comes I need a whole lifestyle change. Enough about me. Jimmy Rollins went hitless yesterday snapping his 38 game hit streak. Too bad. Tiger seems to be struggling a bit at the Masters in midst of his father’s health problems. Too bad. A little tidbit I stumbled upon yesterday: Carmen Electra’s real name is Tera Patrick. Interestingly enough that is the alias of a famous porn star who’s real name is not Tera Patrick. Something I’m sure all of you perverts are privy to. That’s all I got. Here’s the deal:
Sports betting was damn near perfect last night. FREE picks today!!!
Submitted by James Champion on April 6, 2006 - 10:03am. adultery | Baseball | basketball | Gambling | golf | records | sports bettingWhere do I start…oh yeah I went 9-1 on NBA games last night!! After I made my picks and I noticed I chose 6 underdogs I thought to myself that won’t work. Turns out I should have chosen 7 and I would have been perfect. Enough gloating. I don’t want to sound like that arrogant guy on Top Chef. Although my can’t lose pick won, overall I wasn’t as good in baseball betting and even worse the Mets lost. In just the second game of the season, off season acquisition Billy Wagner has already blown his first save. I thought this was why we got rid of Braden Looper. Speaking of things that have not changed and continue to piss me off, Carlos Beltran, the 116 million dollar man, has yet to get a base hit this season. You know what? I’m leaving some things out. Not only did the Mets lose, they blew a four run lead. The pitcher took a damn no hitter into the 6th inning before giving up a 3 run homer. How aggravating. Jimmy Rollins extended his hit streak to 38 games. Good for him. The Masters started today. This is a pretty cool event even if you’re not a huge fan of golf. A couple more Mets tidbits before I go. Ex Met Chris Benson gets his first start for the Orioles today. He seems to be going through some marriage difficulties at the present time. When he was a Met, his wife said that he was allowed to cheat as long as she didn’t catch him, but if she did she would sleep with the entire team including the grounds crew members. Apparently she caught him cheating so stay tuned. Her name is Anna Benson. If you google her I am sure you will find some provocative pictures of her. You might want to think about moving to Baltimore and applying for a job in Orioles organization. Anyways, Pedro Martinez is also making his season debut tonight on ESPN. Bueno!
