When you live near a river, rats can be an issue. I can hear them upstairs in the unfinished attic area of my apartment, rats knawing and sqeaking. There's even an occasional rodent turf war, from the sound of things. I want them gone, and now!

With the resignation of Tony snow and Carl Rove it looks as if the rats are abandoning the sinking ship and jumping overboard. These scoundrels have been a part of getting the US involved in Iraq, allowing the big oil companies to triple the price of gasoline and inflated just about everything so that it looked as if the economy is booming.

It’s nearly worth having a pet rat just for the reaction it brings out in people when you tell them you have one. Rats are hugely disliked by almost everyone and have a reputation for being dirty, dangerous disease carriers. They have adapted to living in cities as well as humans and there may be more of them than there are of us. There’s probably a rat only a few feet from you now as you’re reading this. Boo! That’s why I think it’s a good idea to have one of them on your side.
