While watching the national news one evening, the evening anchor stated that a strategy Hilary Clinton was propositioned to do (but declined); John McCain was giving serious thought to doing. What was it?

Submitted by manodogs on November 7, 2007 - 7:29pm. america | bounty hunter | crime | dog | double-standard | duane chapman | Legal | manodogs | Racism | TVDuane "Dog" Chapman was on CNN's Larry King Live tonight to discuss his recent flap with the press regarding his drug-addicted, ex-convict son's illegal taping of a private conversation in which Dog repeatedly used a racial slur. The A&E Channel's top-rated TV star of the show, Dog the Bounty Hunter, was sincere and repentant for his use of a word which is in common usage throughout America, specifically by the very people who pretend to be so offended by it. But I've already covered the reverse-racism inherent in the word in my earlier post.
You should have seen this friggin' "girlfriend"...
Duane "Dog the Bounty Hunter" Chapman and The D-Word
Submitted by manodogs on November 3, 2007 - 6:09pm. america | bounty hunter | crime | dog | double-standards | Legal | manodogs | Racism | TVWell, I guess you've heard about Duane "Dog" Chapman's latest scrape and oddly enough, this one is more threatening than the possibility of his going to Mexican prison (he isn't, by the way - they dropped the charges): this one could literally end his career, not just interrupt it! But interrupt it, it already has.
Is Nas Naive Or A Moron?
Submitted by Catfish on October 19, 2007 - 7:21am. idiocy | intolerance | Nas | Racism | rap music | rapperThe rapper Nas (of whom I know nothing about ) has decided that the way he's going to try to take the intensity out of what we now call the "N" word is to title his new CD that. And he's not going the "a" version, but the "er" version (at the end of the word).
More In Prison Than In Dorms
Submitted by Catfish on September 27, 2007 - 5:16am. america | crime | diversity | education | Racism | schoolsSo, lately there's been a few people on this blog who are saying that I'm wrong, that there is no problem with race in America. To that, I offer this.
A CNN story today states that there are more blacks in prison than there are in college dorms. As a matter of fact, for more accuracy, three times more are in prison than in college dorms. The study makes sure to mention that it doesn't count those who might be living off campus, and that men make up most of this figure (around 90%).
Torture in West Virginia
Submitted by Catfish on September 11, 2007 - 7:01am. Racism | torture | West VirginiaSee, I talk about racism and some of the things that happen to minorities that don't happen to other people all the time, and people like to dismiss those things.
So then, what about this story about a black woman in West Virginia who was kidnapped by up to 6 people and tortured for a week, until, luckily, the police got an anonymous tip as to where she might be?

You should see the stuff I get that I don't share; I'm sharing this one, though. I thought it was bad enough a couple of years ago when the high school kid in Georgia got 10 years for having consensual sex with someone two years older than she was; here's something else, way more current:

All This Talk On Race Isn't My Fault
Submitted by Catfish on May 7, 2007 - 7:57am. america | diversity | RacismIt seems that lately all I talk about are issues related to race. I was thinking that maybe it was my fault that I'm in this, well, rut, but then I realize it's not me.
Most of the news stories lately seem to be about race; either that, or it's what my eyes are drawn to. For instance, in yesterdays newspaper, there was a poll showing that blacks favor Barry Bonds breaking Hank Aaron's home run record by 74% to 23% of whites, along with some other factors; and, of course, I'm pulling for Bonds, my favorite baseball player of the last 15 years.

Oprah's Hip Hop Summit

Frankly, I'm almost speechless. I can't believe that some of the top industry producers of rap music in today's world could sit up on that stage, say they don't condone the language used in some of today's music, and then say that it's not fair to judge these "artists" or those who produce this music.

CNN Headline News brought this guy on to support, supposedly, the right's response to Don Imus being fired, saying that if Don Imus gets fired, Rosie O'Donnell should also be fired for comments she's made against evangelical Christians and a statement she made about a conspiracy about what happened on 9/11.
Richards' Racist Rant
Submitted by manodogs on November 21, 2006 - 10:06am. Celebrity | entertainment | manodogs | michael richards | Racism | SeinfeldFormer Seinfeld star, Michael Richards, lost his temper at a comedy club and embarked on a racially-charged rant against two black men in the audience. He repeatedly used racial epithets and alluded to lynching.
Richards has since offered a heartfelt apology, and even former co-star, Jerry Seinfeld, has issued a public apology on his behalf.
And while I do not condone, nor agree with, Richards' behavior, I have to wonder what makes his "rant" so different from 98.9% of all black comedians' entire acts...

Submitted by o ceallaigh on August 28, 2006 - 5:11am. hospitality | Indiana | O Ceallaigh's Observations | Ohio | Racism | restaurant | The Drive East | travelThe decision to bypass Chicago had been a good one. Instead of the tolls, rough roads, and traffic jams of the hog butcher of the world, the car had clear sailing as it hummed (not roared, at least not yet; the hole in the exhaust system’s midpipe would not open up until the next day) through the centers of Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio.
It was also territory that was known to me. Especially this part of Ohio. For, while the rest of the trip to this point had been mostly place after place that I was “just passing through", I had lived four years in Columbus. It would be good to see some old familiar sights, even if the schedule I was on demanded that I merely wave to them from an 80-mph distance.
Scotland told to support England in World Cup ...or else!
Submitted by Vicki II on June 3, 2006 - 12:35pm. condoms | fooball | great britain | Racism | scotland | soccer | world cupOn the wind up to the World Cup, there are already huge problems in the U.K. and it doesn’t have anything to do with Germany …for once. Sure, footie fans going to Germany have been told to watch their language, but now an equality watchdog (whatever that is!) has told Scots they better watch theirs toward the English.
This watchdog, which is officially called The Commission for Racial Equality Scotland, says it has already received complaints about some perceived anti-English sentiment. Doh. I’m an American and I could have told you that existed without the World Cup!
