Rag Quilts

Rag Quilts

I love making Rag Quilts! I made my first one about 5 years ago after a friend showed me hers. I found the directions online and told my daughter Becca she could pick the material she’d like for one. She wanted butterflies… then Jillian wanted one with wolves on it! Next thing I knew, I had made half a dozen of them for people!

It’s been a few years since I made one, but I decided to make a baby rag quilt to send to Florida for a cousin of mine whose 4 year old granddaughter has a rare brain tumor. They are holding a benefit for her and are auctioning off items to help out the family. So, I found an adorable frog material and made this baby quilt.

Teach Your Neighbor's Dog NOT To Bark

barking | Dog Silencer Pro | neighbor | NOISE

I kid you not. A month ago, I was in danger of checking myself into the local hospital's mental ward. Our neighbor's dogs had barked almost non-stop for 2 days.

This particular neighbor, when asked to quit throwing beer cans across the fence into another neighbor's yard, responded by draping a huge banner with the 4-letter f-word across the fence so that this elderly lady would see it every time she entered her back yard.

If a tree falls in the woods...

branch | neighbor | tree

My elderly neighbor lost a significant branch from her tree last night. I wasn't aware of when it happened. The first I heard about it was when she called me this morning asking if I saw it.

I went outside, and it was a MASSIVE limb of her tree that fell. Thank goodness it didn't choose another direction and fallen on her house, because it certainly would have injured her. As it is, the entire street is blocked.

Could This Guy Be Psycho?

dementia | lawnmowers | neighbor | OCD | oddities | psychosis | yardwork

In the past week I've noticed a particular guy walking down our street and alleyway several times a day. At first I thought nothing of him as he was dressed like a "regular joe" in clean sweats and a t-shirt, but then, four days ago, he brings a lawnmower with him on his daily stroll down our block and starts mowing all of the less well kept lawns.

I have blogged in the past about how poorly kept some of the houses and yards are in my neighborhood, so you can imagine how happy I was to see that someone was actually doing something about it. I chalked it up to his being a good samaritan.
